      Undergraduate Student Researcher

The Ionospheric Neutron Content Analyzer (INCA) Team is a student-based and student-ledsatellite team working at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The INCA Team’s project objective is to construct a CubeSat-class spacecraft in cooperation with the University of New Hampshire (UNH) and NASA Goddard for AFRL’s University NanoSat Program. The team’s mission objective is to measure, for the first time, the time dependence and directionality of the neutron spectrum in the energy range from 1-20 MeV in Earth’s orbit. Neutrons play a prominent role in several space weather phenomena, and the INCA measurements will therefore expand researchers’ understanding of space weather.Responsibilities included using a Scientific Linux Virtual Machine to modify a Geant4 particle simulator, debugging previously written code, and programming a simulated neutron detector to know what to expect from the detector while it is in orbit. Undergraduate Research Assistant

The Dynamic Distributed System Research Team within the Departent of Computer Science at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico, focused on verifying the idea that Dynamic Distributed Constraint Satisfaction Problems (DDCSP's) could be modeled using a variation of the Laws of Thermodynamics.Responsibilities included designing and developing a multi-agent network in Java to simulate a DDSCP environment, understanding and modifying equations of the Laws of Thermodynamics to meet the needs of the DDCSP, comparing the multi-agent network activity to the dynamic model, and writing weekly update reports on the progress of the project.
