      At the age of 23, became CEO of this 85-bed public, non-profit, county-owned hospital in rural Iowa. Developed hospital-owned satellite clinic system establishing physician practices in three outlying communities in the hospital's service area. Led a strategic planning process that resulted in service expansion and facility modernization. Established an independent hospital foundation that continues to support the hospital to this day. Significantly improved the financial position of the hospital with reserve funds more than doubling over tenure.Position reported to a seven-member publicly elected board of directors. Show less

      Longest serving President & CEO of Duncan Regional Hospital, one of the premier rural hospitals in the nation. Implemented a Guest Services Program that the Disney Institute utilized as a case model for guest services in the health care industry. For the final ten years of my tenure, Duncan Regional Hospital was consistently rated at or above the 95th percentile in the Press Ganey national survey of patient satisfaction. Developed a physician recruitment program recognized by the American College of Medical Staff Recruitment as the outstanding recruitment program in a rural hospital. Planned and implemented a complete interior renovation program, physician office park, rural physician clinics, and multiple construction/expansion projects over the course of tenure. Grew days cash-on-hand from virtually zero to over 600.Position reported to a nine-member Board of Directors. Show less

Ranked in the top 10% of hospitals nationally in patient satisfaction by Press Ganey for final five years of tenure. Mon General was the highest performing hospital in West Virginia on HCAHPS.Guided Health System through an intensive strategic planning process resulting in the planning, design, and construction of 200,000 sq. ft. of new space and renovation of approximately 180,000 sq. ft. of existing space.       Vizient, Inc. is the largest member-driven performance improvement organization, and the largest group purchasing organization (GPO), in the health care industry. As Senior Vice President, Member Connections I served as the primary relationship manager between Vizient and member senior executive teams in both the Vizient Oklahoma/Arkansas and Vizient Mid-America Networks - approximately 60 health systems representing 220 hospitals across 11 states. Served as consultant/advisor to members in performance improvement, quality and efficiency benchmarking, supply chain cost reduction, and industry trends. Held primary accountability for member retention and satisfaction and consistently ranked in the top two regions within Vizient for member satisfaction.For several years of my tenure I served as Chief Executive Officer of LifeCare Health Services, Inc., a company owned by the Oklahoma Vizient members which encompassed multiple service lines including a third-party claims administration company (TPA), the largest PPO in Oklahoma, a 24-hour nurse advice line, a call center supporting the Oklahoma Medicaid program, an insurance brokerage, an accreditation consulting service, and a managed care consulting service. Served as an Advisor to the Board of Trustees of St. John's Health, one of the premier small hospitals in America.
