  Full time research, resulting in the PhD thesis "Time Stamps in Digital Forensics", published in April 2008.This was the first research project within Digital Investigation in Scandinavia. Running at the Department of Telematics at NTNU, it was funded from the Norwegian Research Council.

  I created the software "SIMCon" for forensic analysis of SIM cards. The software became very popular for its ability to recover deleted SMS from the SIM card. Was sold to a significant number of customers in the period 2005-2007 and eventually acquired by Paraben Forensics and integrated into their product suite.

  Together with my good friend Øyvind Bakksjø, I created "Ping", a messaging service for JavaME-phones. The service was very similar to what is currently known as WhatsApp, but several years before this service and for the generation of phones that came before the iPhone. The project did not end up as a success for many different reasons and we eventually ended up being acqui-hired by Telenor where we started working in early 2010.

  I conceived the product appear.in (now known as Whereby) and led the team as part of Telenor Digital from the inception in 2013 to 2017. In this period the product went from non-existence to being used by millions of users world-wide and a great alternative in the video conferencing space. It has since gone on to be spun out of Telenor and is now one of the leading video conferencing products, mentioned in the same breath as Zoom and Microsoft Teams.

  After leaving Telenor in 2017 I wanted to build on my knowledge on video conferencing, but for a different use case than appear.in (Whereby) was targeting. After a period of research, I landed on making a service for the consultation situation, particularly relevant in health care. After being joined by co-founders Dag-Inge Aas and Ida Aalen in the summer of 2017, we started the company Confrere. Confrere went through wild growth during the initial period of the pandemic in 2020 and is now the go-to solution for video consultation in health care in Norway as well as having presence in several other markets.
