By understanding the role of growth factors and trophic factors in the retina the lab can devise methods to treat diseases such as age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.• Retinal mounts – Microdissected the ten-cell-thick retina from neonatal mice for immunohistochemistry• Angiography – Microinjected fluorescein dye to visualize intraocular arteries• Ultramicrotomy – Only person in laboratory to be able to embed and cut 0.5 micron thick sections of retinas for enhanced cellular resolution Show less
