  Supervisor: Dr. Vladimir Kaberdin, ttps://www.ikerbasque.net/es/vladimir-kaberdinDuring a few months, I collaborated in the 'Detection of laccase activity in microbial species originated from Altamira caves' project, where I carried out such tasks as DNA purification, amplification and sequencing and fungal species identification using NCBI BLAST.After such collaboration, I started working on my BSc Thesis, 'Detection and characterization of proteases secreted by Candida auris', in collaboration with the 'Microbial biofilms-related human infections' group from the Medicine Faculty. During this project, I was supervised by Dr. Kaberdin, as well as by Dr. Elena Sevillano, and I comlpeted such tasks as protein purification, separation and identification (by SDS-PAGE electrophoresis) and chromogenic quantification, as well as a structural analysis by Mass Spectrometry. A particular protease identification technique is worth being highlighted, the zymography, which was adapted, developed and perform during the project. Final grade: 9.4, with Honours. Show less
