      The Frank Lee Centre is the leisure facility for Cambridge University Hospitals Foundation Trust, the staffing compliment during the time in which I worked there was c. 50 and the membership c.6,000 -7,000. Providing wide ranging facilities including: swimming pool, sauna, steam room, flood lit outdoor multi activity courts, 2 squash courts, indoor sport hall, therapy studio, cardiovascular and exercise machine gym, 2 licenced bars, catering outlet, pool and snooker room, 200 seat multifunction room. The management team also looked after a 9 bedroom accommodation unit for relatives of sick patients. Main duties and responsibilities at the time were for the effective and efficient implementation of the health & safety policies and facilities management programme. To act as a Duty Manager on a rota basis and in the absence of the General Manager act as his deputy. The role involved the recruitment, training and supervision of all grades of staff.As Safety Officer (Appointed Person) I was responsible for the implementation and management of the comprehensive health and safety policy for the organisation, with the support and help of the leisure centre’s management team.I was responsible for the maintenance of all existing and new plant and buildings, involving liaison with outside bodies, contractors, etc., to facilitate the safe and efficient operation of the fitness and leisure centre.Overseeing the on-going development and operation of the health and fitness strategy of the organisation and maintain involvement with all activities associated with the fitness suite and exercise class programme.       Cambridge City PCT and South Cambridgeshire PCT’s worked in partnership having a co-located headquarters in Cambridge and following financial cuts started to share senior management and executive teams. The organisations workforce was circa 1,100 healthcare staff across many disciplines; however the workforce was largely nurse lead. Care was delivered in a community and domiciliary setting, and also out of numerous clinics and health centers as well as running a community hospital and hospice, a general practice and dental access centre. The geography of the organization was co-terminus with the Cambridge City Council and Couth Cambridgeshire District council boundaries.Achievements – co-delivery, with NPSA lead, of numerous one Day foundation Courses in RCA to representatives from NHS Trusts, Primary Care Trusts, Ambulance Trusts and Mental Health Trusts across the whole of the Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire Strategic Health AuthorityPresentation at Serious Incident Workshop 4 April 2006 to representatives from NHS Trusts, Primary Care Trusts, Ambulance Trusts and Mental Health Trusts across the whole of the Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire Strategic Health AuthorityArticle published in Health Service Journal (HSJ) with PALs lead relating to reporting on and learning from incidents.Work with Anglia Support Partnership (ASP) in the development and testing of safety alert management software (SAMS)Article co authored and published in National journal "Health Care Risk Report"t, Show less

      The Trust currently has 2,000 staff delivering adult and older peoples, children's and specialist services across Cambridgeshire, Peterborough, Suffolk, Norfolk and Luton from over 100 bases. In my role as Safety Manager, I act as the Competent Person for Health and Safety and the Fire Safety Manager. I support the whole Trust in a broad spectrum of safety and risk orientated matters. Much of the time (85%) the workload is aligned to supporting clinical and medical teams with patient safety issues.I take the lead responsibility for the implementation of the Trust's safety strategy and lead on specific areas of expertise, including the delivery of all relevant assurance to both internal and external stakeholders.• The development of robust relationships/partnerships with key external stakeholders to affect improvements in safety across the wider health economy.• Supporting operational units and service managers in the core elements of safety management, reporting of all safety KPI's and related assurance mechanisms.• Management of safety programmes originating, nationally, regionally and locally.• Engagement with staff at all levels to raise awareness of safety issues and to build a strong safety culture throughout the Trust using effective communication.• Specific specialist responsibilities i.e. the development and roll out of root cause analysis (RCA) reporting and learning framework and training package.• Implementation of the safety reporting framework and responsibility for the development of the Trust wide SI reporting system .• To contribute to the development and lead, where appropriate, and implement Trust wide safety and clinical risk documentation• Receiving, collating, interpreting and analysing complex safety related information and the production of reports.• Contributing to Trust wide regulatory requirements including liaison with external bodies.• The investigation of serious incidents requiring independent investigation. Show less Cambridgeshire PCT saw the bringing together of the 4 previous Primary Care Trusts across Cambridgeshire (Cambridge City PCT, South Cambridgshire PCT, Huntingdonshire PCT, East Cambs and Fenland PCT). This was in preparation for a split between providers and commissioners of care. The community care organization worked as an autonomous arms-length body until April 2010, when the organisations legally split, with the provider arm becoming Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust (CCS NHS Trust) – the first community NHS Trust in the country. The staff compliment of circa 2,500 delivering, now, both health and social care across the whole of Cambridgeshire. The care was now delivered in many more clinics and health centres, domiciliary settings and now encompassing 4 community hospitals, (3 with inpatient provision), Acute hospital provision for paediatrics and a special care baby unit, 4 dental access centres, minor injuries units, 3 radiography units and service delivery in prisons both low and maximum security. During this period the organization also took on services in Suffolk and Luton, increasing the workforce to circa 3,000 the geography still further and increasing the diversity of service provision.Achievements - design and deliver bespoke RCA training workshops throughout the Trust, revision of Risk Assessment training courses reducing the delivery time to 0.5 day.
