      Activities and Societies: laboratory work, tracking scientific records, writing reports, giving talks, teaching, supervision of bachelor and master students My work focuses primarily on nutrient metals (such as iron, zinc, copper) and toxic heavy metals (cadmium) and on the functional characterization of metal related genes (NRAMPs) using a combination of molecular biology approaches such as cloning, functional complementation of wild type and yeast mutants, Electrophoretic Mobility Shift Assay (EMSA) for protein-DNA interaction studies, GFP-tagged fusion proteins and confocal microscopy for subcellular localisation of proteins.
