      Worked in a day treatment program working with students who had emotional disabilities. Because none of the teachers knew math, I became the math teacher and learned I could teach math and algebra to students with disabilities.

As the educational arm of Florence Crittenton Services, we have an onsite Early Learning Center for our teen moms' children.Co-taught general education Adv. Algebra and taught special education classes: Intervention Math; High School Reading; and Algebraic Thinking. Taught English Language Learners. Took courses in ELL. Created a two-year stretch differentiated algebra scope-and-sequence/framework for the district for students with disabilities. Department chair; school data team member. As chair, I designed a flowchart to help determine interventions for math, reading, and writing concerns.Recognized as a teacher who "Exceeds Expectations" when modified algebra students in 2010-2011 showed median growth at the 59th percentile in math skills as determined by CSAP results. Modified algebra students in 2011-2012 attained a median growth at the 66th percentile.Services for Students with Disabilities Coordinator for TCAP, ACT, and AP.Sponsor of TJ's 4H horse project club -- first horse club in Denver Public Schools. Used reflection in study skills classes to help students understand their strengths and struggles in order to increase engagement in general education classes as well as prepare them for understanding that in high school, passing grades helped them earn high school graduation credits.Recordings of co-teaching Math and English classes shared with the western region of Stride as an exemplar of effective co-teaching. Selected to present session at a national educational conference on how student reflections increased engagement, including data that demonstrated the success of students.Presented session at another national educational conference on effective and easy co-teaching strategies which was highly rated by participants. Managed a caseload of 35 8th graders. Held timely annual, evaluation, and re-evaluation reviews. Wrote effective Prior Written Notices.
