It gave me an opportunity to get practical exposure to how to keep a plant functional under adverse circumstances. I was lucky enough to experience a shutdown as well. which gave me a chance to have a deep insight into how pumps, fractional distillation columns and mixers are maintained.

  - Corrective & Preventive Maintenance: For 1200 MW oil fired power plant, maintenance budget of $10 million and a team of 20 technicians, spearheaded the maintenance & equipment reliability for plant equipment including oil tanks, furnace, turbine, pumps, valves, compressors, heat exchangers and fans.- Equipment Overhaul in line with API Guidelines: Successfully delivered 20 years increase in the equipment life and $200,000 cost savings through the overhauling of 30,000 MT fuel oil tank as per the guidelines of API 653. - New Equipment Installation & Commissioning: Represented as owner engineer for installation and commissioning of condensate polishing plant, a $3 million CAPEX project with GE to enhance the water chemistry subsequently increasing the life of turbine blades. - Asset Reliability & Availability Process Improvement (ARP): Delivered 4% increase in asset availability of turbine through retrofit of rotor in coordination with OEM General Electric (GE).- Mean Time Between Failure Improvement through Tolerancing Optimization (MTBF): Successfully reduced MTBF by 30% for feed water pump by optimizing the tolerancing of the lemon bore bearings. - Failure Modes & Effect Analysis (FMEA): Conducted a detailed Root Cause and FMEA for a fire incident at gas recirculation fan along OEM (IHI) to recoup the insurance coverage of $1 million.- Computerized Maintenance Management System - Maximo (CMMS): Utilized Maximo CMMS to create & maintain corrective & preventive maintenance plans, generate work orders and purchase orders (PO), incident reporting & risk assessments and change management. Perform Root cause analysis and generate corrective and preventive actions to avoid them in the future.- Oversee the end-to-end execution of the outage by monitoring daily progress against the plan.- Oversee and ensure the daily schedule is updated, based on the progress, plant condition and adjustment required by different work units and contractors, to ensure timely completion as per the plan.- Lead the daily outage coordination meetings with the stakeholders, to ensure robust planning and execution and timely escalation and resolution of issues.- Prepare and submit the final outage report including the entire process of outage preparation, execution, scope of work, major problems encountered & corrective actions taken, good practices and lessons learned, to ensure it is used as a means for continuous improvement, as well as the final outage report.- Looking after 30,000 Metric Tons Storage Tanks refurbishment project.- Ensuring repair works are carried out as per guidelines of API 653.
