      2021 - 2021
Bachelor of Science With Honours - BScHons Computationally Applied Mathematical Sciences (CAMS) First Class

Honours Thesis 2021—Joint project supervised by Alex James. On aspects of SIR modelling of COVID-19, including possible mitigation strategies and virus strains.CAMS contains an enormously relevant mix of applied mathematics, mathematical and statistical modelling, and data science skills. My focus was on applied data science, looking at best statistical practice, communication through visualisation using Shiny an R offshoot, and dealing with messy, life-like datasets.

    • Osaka Yuhigaoka Gakuen High School

      Sept 2014 - Nov 2014
Three Month High-School Exchange to Japan

At the age of 15 I spent three months on a school exchange to Osaka, Japan. I had all of the responsibilities of a normal student and was expected to find my way around the city by myself. Attended many events and continued my Scouting there as well.

    • St Mary's Diocesan High School

      Aug 2016 - Dec 2017

Head of the Academic Council, ran tutoring events and events for STEM weeks like Tech Week. Often had to speak in school assemblies and manage large groups of people. I headed the financial side for my school's Stage Challenge performance 2017. I managed the fundraising and sponsorships for the event as well as budgeting for marketing events. Managed logistics of moving around 100 students from Taranaki to Palmerston with little budget.

      Elaine P. Snowden Astrnomy School

I was selected to attend the Elaine P. Snowden Astronomy school as a year 13 student. The school focused on providing a realistic appreciation for university study in Astronomy, which included attending lectures by distinguished professors and traveling to Mt John Observatory to make basic observations.

    • Andøya Space Education

      Aug 2017 - Aug 2017
      European Space Camp

I was selected to attend the European Space camp as a year 13 student by the Royal Society of New Zealand. It was a 10-day course focused on gaining a broad knowledge of the European Space Industry and most importantly, launching a rocket to 8km+ in height. I was a part of the GPS team who mapped the trajectory, analysed pressure and atmosphere and coded/wired tracking and IPU systems.

    • New Zealand Students' Space Association

      Jan 2019 - Oct 2020
President and Co-Founder of Christchurch Chapter

Our mission is to inspire and enable fellow students to contribute to the future of the New Zealand Space Industry through a student-led and student-run organisation. I founded this chapter with two of my peers at the start of this year, we already have around 60 signed members from many disciplines and levels of experience. Our fantastic committee are all lined up ready to do our flagship events and we hope to rev up NZ's passion for the Space Industry in the process.

      University Exchange

I was lucky enough to be selected for a semester exchange at one of the leading universities in Scandinavia. It was an incredible experience, not only was I able to expand my perceptions of university education, but I was given the opportunity to explore an unique and ancient culture (compared to NZ) and discover more about my family history.

      Internship at RSAA

Based at Mt Stromlo Observatory and supervised by Kathryn Grasha, our mission was to produce a paper on galaxy metallicity in 1 month. The project culminated in this paper published in the Astrophysical Journal: Metallicity, Ionization Parameter, and Pressure Variations of H II Regions in the TYPHOON Spiral Galaxies: NGC 1566, NGC 2835, NGC 3521, NGC 5068, NGC 5236,and NGC 7793.

    • University of Canterbury

      Nov 2020 - Nov 2022

I tutored a number of 100 and 200-level (1st and 2nd year) core mathematics and engineering-mathematics courses. When I started my PhD in 2022 I was promoted to exam marking as by that point I had a strong grasp of the material at hand and I was able to decode the multiple ways people could solve the problems presented. It has been a great opportunity to cement my knowledge and develop my teaching and communication skills. Clemency Montelle supervised the first on the significance of Apeiron in Euclid’s Elements. Second was a joint project supervised by Alex James on Estimating decay curves of neutralizing antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 infection (published a paper on this modelling/research in mid-2021).
