  Assisted the floor nurses in providing care to the patients before and after surgery by assisting with bathing, ambulating, wound care and routine vital signs. Communicating medical requests of the patient and unusual findings in patient statuses to the nurse enable quick and effective patient care. Understanding the importance of roles and duties during an emergency situation was highly emphasized and emergency drills were practiced and discussed on a monthly basis. The mode of transportation, be it a wheelchair, stretcher or bed was dictated by the Nurse, patient as well as the transporter. Proper lifting mechanics while transporting a patient were implemented on every patient. Proper transportation of medical equipment during patient transition occurred during every transfer. Checking two patient identifiers and maintaining HIPPA guidelines, as we relocated the patients, their charts and discussed the transitions over the radio was a daily practice. Show less
