Responsible for leading, designing, executing, and reporting transmission development and durability testing as well as responsible for test cell operation and data integrity. Lead Test Engineer on second generation hybrid transmission of the current production hybrid transmission from Mule through Gamma phase. Designed, executed and documented hybrid transmission development and durability testing from Mule to Production hardware for the Two-Mode Hybrid Chevrolet Tahoe. Initiated and supported refinement of the hybrid powertrain system calibration for vehicle operation during transmission test cell validation testing through ETAS INCA Show less Led and coached Red X statistics-based projects in both warranty and manufacturing at Allison Transmission which was still a division of General Motors. Coached product engineer to determine root cause for JD Power top IPTV event of high range shift lever effort through the problem-solving methodology identifying the specific part and implementing the manufacturing correction to reduce the IPTV by 80%. Scrap reduction projects with successful corrective action in place saved in excess of $200,000 yearly with read across potential in excess of $500,000 yearly. Illustrated reason for single reaction plate failure in clutch pack due to main housing defect prior to Engineering change to reaction plate. Show less Design Release Eng., Hybrid Transaxle Electric Motor Feb ’01 – Nov ‘01Selected to lead development of an outside electric motor supplier for the vehicle platform located in Troy, MI based upon my design and supplier development experience. Directed design enhancements for production intent motor package that doubled the active stack length over initial supplier design recommendation. Reduced overall package length of electric motor by 40% over existing Hitachi production design, while maintaining performance and functionality.Lead Product Design Engineer, 3rd Generation Drive Unit May ’98 – Feb. ’01Led team of peers to incorporate lessons learned and develops coaxial gearbox design for new vehicle packaging strategies and lower cost manufacturing processes. Directed Magna Steyr on upgrades and design improvements to an existing prototype gearbox to meet torque requirements and GM park lock standards. Directed complete packaging of prototype electric motor and internally designed gearbox that utilized current GM production automatic transmission gears.Product Design Release Engineer, S-10 Electric Drive Unit Jan. ’96 – May ’98Responsible for redesign of existing drive unit from EV1 for S-10 electric truck that included prototype delivery through validated production hardware. Developed bi-directional splash lubricated gearbox replacing previously active lubricated gearbox that reduced the cost by 10% while still reducing total parasitic losses. Determined through FEA analysis design improvements to meet durability requirements while reducing the total differential cost by $54.Product Engineer, EV1 Drive Unit Oil Pump July ’94 – Jan. ’96 Validated and implemented process for reducing gear pump noise. Designed rotor laminations for a prime number of bar slots that facilitated lamination rotation during stacking and rotor shaft insertion after lamination stack assembled. Show less

Responsible for leading, directing and developing new hire test engineers conducting OBD demonstration testing across all engine platforms for emissions certification to sell engines. Successfully received EPA and CARB certifications of required platforms on time for the 2018 MY. Developed the vehicle testing methodology for a new diagnostic for engine cylinder misfire and successfully received certification for the 2017 MY Ram HD Pick-up. Supervised 10 test engineers that conducted emissions testing across all platforms in both engine diagnostic development, MY certification for EPA and CARB and OBD deficiency removal. Show less

      Land Development/Home Construction Project Manager

Successfully developed a single 4 lot minor plat through county approvals to build homes with septic fields with electric service. Built 4 homes with an investor managing the contractor scheduling and the accounting of all of the various investment loans and accounts. Utilized engineering background to lead roof truss designers to make designs that reduced cost and complexity during construction while not affecting load capacity. The company was unable to secure financing or investors for land development and the company decided to focus on home building and remodeling. Show less
