  Nutritional Intern

  I worked as the Nutritional Intern at Edgard & Cooper. This was a great opportunity which allowed me to work in the pet food industry straight out of university. I developed valuable innovation and analytical skills through NPD and claim substantiation research. My presentation skills were improved through internal onboarding as well as external conferences. My primary project was to develop a claims database collating substantiation for legacy, current and future claims made by the company. This meant analytically reading many scientific reports and identifying any gaps in research to focus on. This database is being used to educate the company on what can and can not be said regarding our products. I worked alongside the brand/marketing team during NPD which allowed me to develop alternative perspectives on the pet food industry and tailor my communication effectively. I’m September, I visited Edgard & Coopers HQ in Kortrijk, Belgium. During my trip, I visited multiple stores across the country for store expert training. I spent a day doing some field sales whereby I spoke to buyers and stockists of the products. Volunteering is a key pillar to Edgard & Coopers values, particularly the Edgard & Cooper Foundation. Whilst in Belgium, I participated in a large rubbish clear up of the local area. In November, I spent a day at Mayhews in London, carrying out some gardening, furniture refurbishment and animal socialising. I have gained invaluable experience at Edgard & Cooper, getting involved in as many aspects as possible to develop my career skill set and continue working in an industry I find intriguing.
