The Presidency role involved looking after the entire needs of the organisation which required observing the AIESEC Auckland from a strategic level rather than a functional specific area. The role also involved personally tracking and managing the executive board to drive and sustain direction within the organisation. Being involved as a President allowed me to be part of the National Leadership Team in New Zealand. Being a part of this team allowed me to contribute to key strategical decisions for New Zealand. • Orion Health

      Jan 2015 - Jul 2018
      Intermediate Software Developer

At Orion Health Ive had the opportunity to work in a variety of teams, the first being in a Java development team. Here I picked up essentials skills in writing, reviewing and testing Java code in an agile manner. The rest of my time in Orion was spent in DevOps teams. Being able to deploy infrastructure in an automated matter, removing tedious manual steps, and making deployments easy was the main goal of our team.I've also had the change to work on creating Cloud services to automate providing access to our various dev, test, stage and prod environments, as well as creating a cost engineering service in the cloud to minimize and control our spend in the cloud. • Worked on a base layer product that delivered reusable components to downstream teams and applications using Java OSGi and REST APIs.• Implemented a few Chat-Ops application/bots creating self-service services backed off AWS serverless architecture which reduced support workloads.• Built REST APIs using AWS API Gateway to create server-less applications.• Responsible for the cost engineering service, which served to create many tools to manage and reduce development and production spending in AWS.• Designed and developed continuous delivery tooling that focused on solution deployment automation in the cloud.• Improved the existing Joiner-Movers-Leavers process to our cloud platform, to enable users to quickly and securely gain access to development or product system.• Liased with subject matter experts to help build the right thing.• Experience using a variety of languages and technologies such as Java, Ruby, Node.js, AWS services, Puppet, and Git.• Comfortable with using many testing frameworks such as cucumber, rspec, mocha/chai and with continuous integration technologies like Bamboo.• Have mentored and trained several graduates at Orion. • MYOB

      Jul 2018 - Jul 2021
      DevOps Engineer

Had the opportunity to gain experience in a real devops team. Worked in two teams across 2 products. In my first devops team I had the chance to work with PayGlobal:• Expanded my knowledge on puppet and powershell to automatically provision new sites.• Automated many tedious manual steps. Upgrades of all sites was a painfully manual process that took 2 months, but with the help of powershell scripting, we could upgrade all sites in a week.• Designed and implemented a transition plan to move away from 'pet' style infrastructure to 'cattle'.In my second devops team I had the opportunity to work with Advanced Business:• Learnt C# and python. C# was used to dev a webapp that helped us administer our system whereas I used python and ruby to write quick automation scripts.• Expanded the Self Service functionality within the platform to allow support teams to administer changes simple changes themselves. This took the support load off the devops team allowing us more time to work on platform features.• Helped design a newer reliable serverless backup system.Along with my usual day to day work I took alot of interesting in mentoring new graduate students with their first steps in the Software Industry Show less
