    • The Co-Operative Food

      May 2016 - Sept 2017
      Customer Service Assistant

I have developed fully transferable skills as a result of working at the Co-operative. Communication skills and organization of workload was central to the job. I had also gained an insight into the field of Health and Safety as I voluntarily took on further training. I thoroughly enjoyed working here, mainly because I knew I was very good at the job. I quickly made a bond with frequent customers and fitted very well into the team. I quickly mastered the tills, stock counting, deliveries, produce, facing-up and reductions: I managed to perform these multi-tasks, while at the same time helping customers, and supporting the kiosk when things got very busy. It was vital to maintain a confident, approachable character, and to be proactive when it came to helping customers. For example, if you saw an individual with his/her hands full it would make sense to get a basket and offer it to them. Any overtime, or shifts needing to be covered, I was the person my colleagues went to. They knew I would very rarely turn down additional work. My work ethic was noticed by the customers and the staff- my boss even offered a promotion. Show less

    • Oregon Timber Frame Ltd

      May 2018 - Sept 2018
      Maintenance Worker

Primarily involved in supporting the Fabricators: measuring and cutting OSB Timber using a Benchsaw, Cutting Superfoil Tape, General Factory Recycling, Cleaning Workbenches, Saws and the Factory Exterior (i.e. strimming and sweeping). I was responsible for the upkeep of the Factory, which required constant work just to keep the place running. I was determined to keep on top of everything, and worked flat out to maintain a high standard, and safe working area for the Fabricators. Work was very physically demanding. Long hours, short-staffed in a Hazardous Environment. It was essential to adhere to the Health & Safety regulations when working alongside large cutting saws, forklifts, high dust levels and high-pressure Nail/Air guns. Show less

The timber is stacked, wrapped and labelled where it is then taken to a "Grader" which stress tests the timber before it is transported to the client. Health and Safety is a priority when working alongside large saws, conveyor belts, Forklifts and when carrying and stacking heavy timber. I am currently trained on the Automatic Stacking Machine, Top Saw and Pack Saw. Show less

      Work Experience

Two weeks work experience shadowing experts in Forestry Valuation. I undertook a considerable Wind-blow survey for the Crown Estate, down in Lockerbie, after shadowing Eddie Addis. I also managed to meet a client, and witness the early stages of Valuation on two occasions. Lastly, I was asked to undertake an annual data collection exercise, to measure the general trend of Forest Sales in the UK. This enabled John Clegg & Co to measure the trend of Forest Sales, as well as their influence in the UK market. Show less
