As the Director of the Centre for Work-Integrated Learning (Centre for WIL) I have the opportunity to lead an innovative and hard working team of Work-Integrated Learning practitioners, faculty members, and student leaders. The department offers a range of Work-Integrated Learning courses and programs to support students to be ready for the future of work, see how their WIL experiences and classroom learning are connected, and find their sense of purpose. A Work-Integrated Learning curriculum team, and strategic initiatives arm also ensures we are continually innovating, staying at the for-front of the Work-Integrated Learning field. Show less Within my role I work to provide leadership, guidance, and strategic direction to the Student Success Office in developing institution wide research informed learning approaches and strategies that support student success and retention. My portfolio includes a team of developers who look to strategically collaborate with faculty and campus partners on projects which enhance student learning and academic success. Another branch of my portfolio includes individuals who oversee our Academic Programming, including the UNIV 101 course, Academic Skills Workshops, and 1-1 Peer Success Coaching. Finally, a key priority of this position is to work with the Student Success Office leadership team in determining faculty and institution wide priorities for enhancing students' academic success. Show less Working within the Learning Services division of the Student Success Office at the University of Waterloo I managed numerous projects surrounding the development and delivery of online, in-person, and blended programming and courses. I also consulted around assessment and learning tools; content management applications; educational technology; and effective learning strategies and teaching techniques. I was responsible for the curriculum development, co-ordination, and course delivery of UNIV 101: Strategies and Skills for Academic Success. I was also responsible for the ongoing research and collection of data for both of these initiatives, delivery of presentations, distribution of reports, and the selection and training of additional course instructors. Show less Within this role I consulted around a healthcare structure which allows health professionals to work collaboratively with their patients in partnership with academic support in a University setting. I developed and implemented holistic wellness programming for students with mental and emotional health difficulties. I worked in collaboration with Senior Administrators, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Counselors, General Practitioners, and Support Workers to provide timely support for students.
