    • Simply Sports Ltd

      Jun 2014 - Jul 2019
      Sales Assistant

I have worked part-time at my local running-specialised sports shop for nearly five years now. Whilst working here, some of my job roles have included, but were not limited to: customer service, public interaction and learning specialised knowledge about products and equipment. Working at Simply Sports has given me many valuable life skills that I have been able to transfer into my everyday life, including: self-confidence, time management, maturity and a taster into the world of retail working. I continue to work at Simply Sports when home from university, where I tend to spend more time working on the admin side of retail; ordering stock and writing reports and databases on the patterns and performance of the branches (using my knowledge of Microsoft Office). Jun 2016 - Oct 2018
      Lifeguard

In the summer of 2016, I completed and passed the accredited NPLQ course. Since then, I spent university holidays working as a lifeguard and getting to experience the day-to-day running of a large leisure centre. A leisure assistant has many different roles, including safeguarding, facility maintenance, customer care and hosting children’s parties. Each shift involves working with different groups of people, including those who are disabled and young children.

    • Surprise Lake Camp

      Jun 2017 - Sept 2017
      Lifeguard

I went through the Camp America agency and was given the opportunity to work at a Jewish children’s sleep away camp in New York as a lifeguard and swimming instructor this Summer. The job consisted of spending the best part of 14 hours every day outside, either teaching the children (aged between 6-15) how to swim, or guarding them whilst they swam freely. This was a very intense, but rewarding job. Spending three months in a different cultural environment taught me how to be more adaptable and it really showed me that I am capable of pushing myself and working long hours, but doing so with constant positive energy and drive. It also provided me with the experience of working with all different types of colleagues (those who were older, or even those who spoke limited English). Show less
