  I joined the BTP in 2004, starting out within a Reassurance Team responsible for the East London Line (now London Overground) before moving onto a response team in late 2005. I trained as a Response driver in 2006, undertaking the Standard response 3 week training course. I also passed the driving test for membership into the Institute of Advanced Motorists.In 2008 I moved onto a Neighbourhood Police Team with responsibility for two of the largest stations on the London Underground Network. I built relationships with businesses and Community groups as well as Rail staff. These relationships developed, ensuring our team was at the forefront of tackling local issues with our colleagues in the Metropolitan Police.I trained as a Youth Engagement Officer with Transport for London and would visit schools to discuss Anti Social Behaviour, Railway Offences and Safety on the railways. I spent time with the BTP Youth Board, gaining an insight into how relationships between Police and Young people were affected and what could be done to harness positive relations. In 2010 I was nominated by the BTP for the Jane's Police Review Community Police Officer of the Year Award.In May 2012 I was made Temporary Police Sergeant (T/PS), a role I held until September 2014 when I joined Learning and Development for a 6 month attachment. As T/PS I worked within 4 Neighbourhood Policing teams. I gained a reputation for driving performance and harnessing good morale and a positive work ethic within the team I was responsible for. I continued to build good relationships with Stakeholders and Community groups, tackling local issues and improving confidence in the Police. Within L&D I was responsible for recruit development, undertaking periodic reviews of Student Officers progress, giving advice to Team Sergeants and setting achievable Action Plans to develop underperforming Officers.I am currently back working within Neighbourhood Policing, awaiting a Promotion Board to Police Sergeant.
