  Worked in one of the busiest stores in the ACT as my first job. Speed, situational awareness and a cool-headed attitude were necessary to work in such a busy and noisy environment. I worked in both the kitchen and in customer facing roles during my time. Many essential workplace skills were gained from my time here such as speed, situational awareness and a cool-headed attitude. Additional skills such as providing quality service and maintaining a customer-first mentality were developed.

  Delivery Expert

  As a delivery expert, I was responsible for taking pizza and other food items from the store to the delivery address of the customer. Planning, adherence to road rules (especially when under the time pressure), communication and the ability to follow instructions were critically developed. This was the first job in which I undertook a role which wasn’t directly supervised all the time. Integrity, honesty and discipline were a big part of the role.

  Having been selected for the Deloitte 2021 Vacationer program, I spent four weeks working within the Risk Advisory Cyber Team. During these four weeks I assisted various teams with writing professional proposals for potential Government engagements. Additionally, I was tasked with a number of research tasks while also assisting in the uplift of security documentation and policy which involved demonstrating my professional writing skills.This was my first opportunity working within a professional role, one in which I have gained exposure and key experience in working with Government clients and the cyber security industry as a whole.   After receiving selection to this Summer Vacationer Program, I spent four weeks working within the Cyber and Digital Trust team. During my time here, I was able to meet many industry-leading professionals and discuss ideas and pathways with them while also being able to assist in various projects as part of the job. A great overview of the cybersecurity landscape was provided to me through the program.

  As a team member at Spotlight, I undertook many responsibilities which were customer-focused. These included assisting with queries and requests, handling refunds, escalating concerns and providing product advice. The other half of the work was to do with warehouse management and stock replenishment. I helped implement specific sales strategies and promotions to ensure maximum profit was generated and no products were discarded.

  As a Sales Associate at OTF Gungahlin, I worked to improve general fitness awareness in the community - directly and indirectly. The main goal was to attract more people to gyms or other activities that keep them active and healthy. Part of the job was selling memberships, providing top-tier customer service and satisfaction and making sure that members utilise their membership. Multiple processes had to be followed whether they were to do with sales or Health & Safety. As I was part of a small team, organisation and awareness were highly required skills.   As a Graduate at Deloitte, I was exposed to multiple projects and world-class training (both internal and external). I was given the opportunity to work on high-impact, meaningful and purpose-led projects within the Cyber Security landscape and learn from my team. Exposure to both private and Federal Government clients were provided within the program.
