      As a Geo-Spatial Technology specialist in the Ministry of Planning and Development, I was assigned to the Cell for monitoring and evaluation of the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP), agricultural monitoring, disaster management, forest estimation and monitoring, environment, and GIS-based governance planning using satellite imagery of Pakistan Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) building. My responsibilities included:• Creating a model for the creation of a spatial decision support system for the Ministry and collecting relevant data for the SDSS• Serving as a member of a team to make significant contributions to the unit's work program• Gaining a broad overview of Planning Commission's policies and functions• Assisting chiefs/heads of sections in policy formulation and research fieldwork• Completing projects and studies in connection with Pakistan 2025 program and other relevant duties• Producing quality work and ideas independently while taking initiatives• Collaborating with eminent national scholars for a tailor-made training program at Pakistan Planning and Management Institute (PPMI).As a Young Development Fellow (YDF) program participant, I am one of 220 emerging leaders from around Pakistan. This one-year program provides an immersive experience that includes valuable on-the-job training and a built-in stretch/learning assignment. I receive quarterly reviews on my performance and am encouraged to take on additional tasks/projects in other ministries. The YDF program provides me with an opportunity to learn from the experience of the Planning Commission and other economic ministries/divisions involved in policy formulation.
