      May 2022 - Jul 2022
      Event Planning Intern

In this role, I worked alongside Church World Service to plan the second Welcome Week: College Edition. This event is a series of 45-minute webinars that lasts for a week and equips college students across the country to welcome incoming students, with a special focus on assistance for forced migrants and refugees. In this role, I would be on the team developing topics for each webinar and extending an outreach network between professors and experts to speak on issues new students might face as they enter the university atmosphere. During the event in September, I will also be present as an attendee and host. Show less

      English Tutor

This role involves empowering global professionals who are firmly established in their respective fields with assistance in fluency through organic dialogue in English. In contrast to other positions of this type, the main focus is less on comprehension (due to the strong grasp the clientele already has on English) and instead delves into paraphrasing, correction of sentence structure, alongside helping the student to improve the overall sense of professionalism they project when speaking English. Throughout each 20-minute or 40-minute session, I interact with the student through both direct discussion and through shared paraphrasing of spoken sentences using the company's documentation tool. Afterwards, I also provide feedback for the student on each session regarding facets they excel in and spaces where more improvement can take place. Overall, this position not only relies on technical and communication skills but also on being empathic, understanding, and respectful of others who are trying to make an impact in many different fields. Undergraduate Research Associate

In this research position, I am investigating the models described in a research paper published by Frontiers: "A conceptual framework for the dynamic modelling of time-resolved phenotypic traits for sets of genotypes across environmental and management conditions" (van Voorn, et al.). Considering these models in relation to representations of electronic circuits using living plant systems, my goal is to interpret the naturally probabilistic nature of organism development through the edge cases where these models become unstable. The ideal end result is to apply the notion of "mostly-on" or "mostly-off" biological states as described by the eccentricities of each model type rather than fully on or off states, which may prevent dissonance in how such fully binary conditions would otherwise alter the intended function of certain gene expression modalities.
