NEC 3 Option C (design and build)• Responsibilities- Responsible for the design development for: the steelwork (200mx150m substructure´s roof designed as a composite slab with supporting steel columns typically set out on a 9mx9m grid, £15m), three openings (8mx20m approx.) where we have to break in the operational T2 basement, and a precast partition wall (200mx12m)- Client and Stakeholders engagement- Review/accept the design- Co-ordinate the structural, architectural and M&E design- Prepare the invitation to tender (ITT) and manage supplier selection- Use all recording tools and data to keep an accurate position of project status and assess monthly application for payment- Worked with the Quality Manager to implement better procedures within the organisation, improving the documentation management system, ITP, MAFs, quality and design management plans and quality control- Responsible for creating/keeping updated the “Design Hazard Elimination and Risk Reduction Register” (risk identification meetings and lessons learnt)• Key achievements:- Manage and co-ordinate the design contracts and resources in the most efficient and cost-effective manner- Engage with Heathrow Principal Engineers to create more buildable designs from early stage. Target cost design and build.As part of the works required on BC243 and adjacent projects, a significant amount of Operational Equipment and roads required to be relocated.• Responsibilities:- Undertake a due diligence on the existing information and agree the extent of remaining design required with the client.- Assess the impact to Operational Equipment on behalf of all the projects around Terminal 2 (existing and pipeline).- Develop a new Logistics Strategy (including airside and landside roads) to stablish the GSE parking, Tug Charging, Stillage and Compactor arrangements in a phased approach during the construction works whilst protecting the interests of the airport operation at all times.- Agree changes with the relevant stakeholders (Airlines and Heathrow Operations).- Ensure notification of changes are clearly communicated to all impacted parties, including adjacent projects of other contractors at the airport and their Client representatives.- Lead, coordinate and review the design development process with all parties and later construction support.• Key achievements:- Develop a successful strategy where changes to Operational Equipment are carried out without any adversely impact to the airport operation.- Heathrow’s recognition at the end of the project during the lesson learnt session for working collaboratively with other projects, stakeholders and contractors to plan the works.- Find efficiencies and synergies with other Ferrovial projects at the time. Target cost design and build for PCA (NEC 3 Option C) / construct only for Pavement Replacement (NEC 3 Option A).Golf Taxiway asphalt resurfacing and stands pavement replacement, including the provision of new preconditioner air system infrastructure below the existing pavement while the taxiway and stands were still operational.• Responsibilities:- Manage the interface with other principal contractor working in the same area to co-ordinate the design.- Engage with two different clients (Heathrow and H.H.Op.Co) and stakeholders.- Manage the design contract and co-ordinate the two designers involved in the project.• Key achievements:- Propose all possible opportunities and efficiencies to the client.- Adjust the design to enable all works happen simultaneously.- Assist to introduce new PMB asphalt mixture minimizing impact to the airport. Target cost design and build.Reconstruction and realignment of the Northern Bravo Taxiway and some of its adjacent stands to allow Code F traffic. Partial demolition of the Pier 4 building.• Responsibilities:- Manage the design contracts.- Management of the interface with the Client and Stakeholders as well as Designers and Subcontractors. I also worked closely with key asset owners to implement specialist mitigation measures to protect sensitive assets.- Work with the commercial team, under an NEC3 contractual frame, managing the contract with Heathrow raising all kind of contract notifications (EW, TQ, CE, GC).- Prepare some of the subcontractor’s contracts.- Review and approve all design related documentation.• Key achievements:- Leading the design contracts and managing the design development and construction support under a challenge environment due to the nature of the live operational area. Ensuring the design was prepared, approved and reviewed to meet the programme key milestones.- Develop innovative construction methodologies.       Framework: Q6+1 Development at Heathrow AirportBC243 Kilo Apron Development - £190m, NEC 3 Option C (design and build):Creation of a Kilo taxilane and two new stands on the west face of T2B with a 200mx150m underground substructure to house the future Early Baggage Storage and Tracked Transit System to connect T2A with its satellite T2B and future 2C. The construction consists of a perimeter diaphragm walls, 18m deep open cut excavation, in-situ concrete raft slab and steel structure with composite roof slab.Project also includes he fit out of the VCC (vertical circulation core building).• Responsibilities- Responsible for managing the design contracts and resources of all packages (structures, architecture and M&E)- Keep monthly control of the design cost against the baseline. Review applications for payment (designers and subcontractors). Organise frequent meetings with the commercial team to provide back-up on the different EWN and CE and subsequent mitigation meetings with designers/subcontractors for discussion- Provide technical support to the construction team, keeping an updated design schedule and prioritising tasks- Ensure handover documentation is submitted correctly on time- Assist with the quality control and assurance focusing on achieving the highest quality standards- Client and Stakeholders engagement and Change Control- Keep updated the “Design Hazard Elimination and Risk Reduction Register” (risk identification meetings and lessons learnt)- Held progress meetings with the team and separate meetings to organize and discuss tasks- Monitor works on site to ensure compliance with agreed systems of work• Key achievements so far:- Assist to plan for a safe and effective “back to work” after the COVID-19 lockdown.
