At Deep South, the underwriter solicits business from his client base and determines acceptability of submissions while determining the proper price point by which the risk should be written. This is done in part by cross referencing power unit vehicle identification numbers with available data bases to determine weight and ancillary equipment of vehicles to be covered. Pricing is then developed using filed merit credits/debits, as well as experience rating based on loss runs provided by client and agent. Industry specific tools such as SAFER, CAB, A.M Best Hazard Indexes and Risk Meter reports are also used in the evaluative process.
