  I am currently the commanding officer in the Metropolitan division of the police department. I am responsible for patrol, crime prevention, community outreach, and provide essential police services to the city's main business thoroughfare in the downtown district. I am also in charge of the three major sporting and entertainment venues in Newark - the Prudential Arena, New Jersey Performing Arts Center, and Newark Symphony Hall, where I not only create policy involving risk management and security planning, I also lead its operational implementation. Formerly the commanding officer of the 5th Precinct, the city’s most violent police precinct, and former commanding officer of the Traffic Section, which provides traffic control, special events presence, and enforcement through the use of motorcycle and mounted horseback patrols. I was also responsible for managing the civilian school crossing guard unit, which covers over 100 posts throughout the entire city of Newark. I was also previously assigned to the Command Operations Center where I was responsible for assuming operational command of personnel city-wide in the Patrol Operations and Support Services Divisions, which included supervisors, patrol officers, detectives, and Communications/Technology personnel. Through the management and deployment of police resources across all police precincts and divisions, I was generally responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of services to citizens and visitors to the city of Newark.I am currently certified by the New Jersey Police Training Commission as a Police Instructor and provide in-service training to all newly promoted personnel and instruction to incoming police academy classes in the city of Newark. Show less I was tapped to lead and serve as the unit head in the New Jersey State Police, Real Time Crime Center which is a subcomponent of the New Jersey Regional Operations & Intelligence Center (NJ ROIC), where I oversaw personnel from municipal, county, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. I also served as the Commanding Officer of the Major Crimes - Criminal Intelligence Unit, and the Major Crimes - Technical Services Unit in the Newark Police Division. As unit head and lead project manager, I led cross-functional teams to collaboratively provide real-time intelligence, conduct threat assessments, support criminal investigations, and provide situational awareness to police agencies throughout the state. I would later share these criminal investigations and/or situational awareness events to the heads of law enforcement agencies in real time or through briefings, presentations, and/or dissemination reports. This position also aligned with my role as my agency’s Municipal Counter-Terrorism Coordinator, where I collected intelligence, conducted investigations and created threat assessments into potential domestic, international terrorist activity and large-scale protests in order to coordinate with state and county agencies to implement mitigation strategies. In addition, I also served as my agency's ViCAP (Violent Criminal Apprehension Program) manager, which is an analytical unit located within the FBI’s Critical Incident Response Group (CIRG).
