May 1986 - Jun 1993M1A1 Tank Commander, Platoon Sergeant / Unit ArmorerEnlisted in the U.S. Army on the new M1 Main Battle Tank weapon system as an Armor crewman. Received specialized training for responsibilities in duties as the unit Armorer, Nuclear Biological Chemical NCOIC (Non Commissioned Officer in Charge), Field Sanitation NCOIC. Was promoted as the youngest M1A1 Tank Commander in the 1st Tiger Brigade of the 2nd Armor Division. In 1990 deployed to the Persian Gulf to Desert Shield/Storm as the platoon/section sergeant of an armored tank platoon in the 3rd Battalion,67th Armor Regiment (“The Hounds of Hell”) of the famed 1st Tiger Brigade. This Mechanized Tank Brigade was the only Army unit with the honor and distinction to be attached to the United States Marine Corps' 2nd Tank Battalion, 2nd Marine Division which was first into Kuwait City in the Liberation from the Republican Guard. For combat actions in the theater of operations was recognized for exceptionally meritorious service in the attack of the Multa Ridge complex west of Kuwait City during Operation Desert Storm and was awarded the Army Accommodation Medal with V device for Valor and a field level promotion. Other medals awarded throughout my Army military career also include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal (with silver oak leaf cluster/V-device), the Navy Commendation Medal, the Joint Service Achievement Medal (Navy), the Army Achievement Medal (with 4 oak leaf clusters), and the Army Good Conduct Medal (with 3 knots). Jun 1996 - Aug 2006Supply Chain Specialist (Truck Control/Shipping and Planning/Inventory Accuracy)Coordinated with warehouse supervisors and designed timely resolutions in clearing the floor of high priority shipments from studies conducted on the Frustrated Area. Processed hundreds of frustrated freight transfers and shipped them out and/or coordinated with shipping warehouses to perform the correct procedures to eliminate further backlog of high priority frustrated freight.Responsible for printing, sorting, filing, and distribution of government bills of lading. Monitored in-bound and out-bound shipments to and from the Depot which included dedicated truckloads, LTL loads, sea van containers, and air freight. Developed policies and procedures as they affected the transportation industry, causative research inventory, and the system integration focusing on modes of transportation. Responsible for all areas in booking, scheduling, and charges of Depot shipments which included ensuring rates and fuel charges were at or below budgetary requirements. Conducted studies in the frustrated area and analyzed trends in packing errors from shipping warehouses. Coordinated with warehouse supervisors to provide resolutions in clearing the floor of High Priority Shipments. Scheduled Division workload and personnel. Aug 2006 - now(Dual Hatted) Serves as the Materiel Management Group senior Distribution Facilities Specialist responsible for conducting management analyses of assigned operations to determine efficiency of receipt, storage and shipment procedures and to identify problem areas within a Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Depot. Extensive experience and knowledge in project management, stock positioning, inventory integrity, disposal order processing and warehouse storage optimization at the second largest Distribution Depot and Strategic Distribution Platform in the DLA network. DLA Distribution San Joaquin is responsible for over 35M cubic feet of storage space and 800K NSNs valued at over $7 Billion. San Joaquin is the primary logistics support center to the Western US (west of the Mississippi River) and US Forces Pacific Command (PACOM) Area of Responsibility (AOR) as well as being an integral part of DLA Distribution's worldwide customer support network.• As the BRAC project manager, created an innovative and cost effective plan for DLA Distribution San Joaquin's Materiel Movement/Storage Optimization plan that was submitted to and approved by the DDC BRAC team and later adopted as the standard for receiving incoming material by the four Western Region FDPs. Developed and designed multimedia presentations for the BRAC Program Policy presentations briefed to the Commander and leadership on a monthly basis. Delivered the monthly BRAC brief to command in the absence of the Group Chief/Deputies. IPR 6-month review revealed the designated equipment turn-in exceeded DLA HQ’s goal by 42%. The impact of exceeding HQ’s disposal goal for San Joaquin resulted in an unexpected surplus funds from the current maintenance contract; the $100K surplus enabled crucial repairs and routine maintenance to bring our deployable team’s mission essential deployable equipment back up to mission readiness status. Served as the principle senior-level technical specialist/advisor on all aspects of San Joaquin’s vehicle/MHE fleet; ensured the fleet remained operational/capable of supporting warfighter requirements at all times—instrumental to the center maintaining mission metrics above 86%, for an unprecedented 3-months running. Preformed meticulous 2-year historical analysis of MHE mishap incident reports to pin point root causes of spike in mishaps; targeted the top three warehouses with the majority of mishaps and coordinated “Slow Down” signs be placed in key “high speed” MHE traffic zones; rotated signs throughout workcenter and received positive input from managers/employees alike—mishaps for FY17 1st Quarter reduced by 50% Show less

This aged and excess equipment had a cumulative maintenance cost of over $550K, and disposing of it resulted in a cost avoidance of $1.4M in equipment replacement costs.

By classifying the organization's MHE as excess or essential to supporting the Warfighter, developed and managed a project that assisted in achieving a nearly 30%equipment reduction, saving over $8M.
