  Responsible for directing and supervising all activities related to the department’s internship program. This includes all recruitment and promotion efforts, prescreening all potential interns to determine eligibility (serving 1000+ majors), maintaining all student files and documentation, assessing current interns progress through an early and final evaluation, maintaining website content for the internship webpages, and coordinating with internship sponsors. Planned, promoted, and executed two departmental internship fairs. Ongoing collaboration with the University Career Center to offer all communication related internships through the university's career management system, Hire-A-Niner. As Internship Director, student enrollment of the Professional Internship Course, Comm 4410/4445, has more than doubled, and the number of internship sponsors has grown from around 300 to more than 500. With a strong commitment to maintaining quality internships for students, I advocate for the most valuable hands-on learning experiences where students are challenged to learn with actual hands-on activities, while under the supervision of qualified, experienced professionals working in the industry. Use of Canvas learning management system to offer power points presentations, weekly quizzes, a calendar of events, and other important class information. Special speakers and hands-on learning exercises are utilized in all courses when appropriate. Service on numerous departmental and university committees. Attend workshops regularly to enhance teaching effectiveness with topics dealing with large lectures, moodle 2, faculty recruiting, and creating online courses. Planned, developed, and taught one of the first fully online courses for the department, Interpersonal Communication, in fall 2011/spring 2012.
