Coal milling increases the degree of liberation of minerals in high ash coal, helping to expose minerals that would be impossible to expose during conventional coal washing. Post milling beneficiation of minerals in pulverised fuel will increase the threshold for acceptable coal for a given boiler, creating a new market for lower grades coal.

      Finding a way to use low quality coal by de-sanding it in a coal mill taking out all the embedded sand particles. During milling phase these sand particles are exposed more than with conventional coal washing technologies allowing to clean the coal even more and allow only the good vitrinite parts of the coal to pass to the boiler. New markets for low grade coal emerges without damaging the boiler plant.
