The Grootegeluk Coal Mine is an open cast mine within the Waterberg Coalfield of the Limpopo Province of South Africa. The overall responsibility of the Manager Surveying role is to lead the surveying team in providing a safe and integrated surveying service in accordance with company standards and the Minerals Act. Managing and integrating the survey process for a section of the operation including the development & implementation of a proactive approach to all survey issues in the section. Effectively coordinating and controlling the support functions to facilitate vital input, which has enabled the consistent achievement of survey targets. Actively involved in and make a significant contribution to the management of the ore reserve and the long-term mine planning process e.g. scheduling, determination of the short to long-term targets up to the Life of Mine plan . Managing an effective Survey and Draughting section within the Technical Services Department. Compiling and updating of Statuary Departmental Plans and all Mine Plans as required and prescribed by the Minerals Act . Continuously ensuring adherence to legislative/statutory (The Mine Health and Safety Act) standards. Database management - Managing all aspects of the Surveying Database, ensuring accuracy and regular updating. Planning - Creating the context for the work - within which certain objectives need to be achieved planning and structuring of task achievement over a period that ranges from 3 months to 1 year.
