Breakthrough Houston is a tuition-free program for highly motivated, historically excluded, first-generation college students in Houston. I proudly participated in Breakthrough's six-year commitment. Where as a Middle school student I participated in a rigorous six-week Summer Program at St. John's School, plus a School Year program made up of eleven Saturday enrichment sessions and as a High school student I participated in a four-year college prep program.

President of the Awty International School Speech and Debate Team

In serving as the President of Congress for the Awty Speech and Debate team, I worked to increase access to upper levels of competition for our students, especially on the National Circuit and the NSDA's National Speech & Debate Tournament. My duties as President include overseeing Speech & Debate participants, reaching out to community members regarding service opportunities, running our social media platforms, and coordinating our fundraising efforts. This year we plan to raise money for our team to help reduce socioeconomic barriers that hinder students' ability to be able to compete at National circuit tournaments. Show less

The City of Houston Municipal Courts Department's Teen Court Attorney

As a member of the MCD's Teen Court, I am entrusted with the responsibility of adjudicating real cases involving juvenile defendants who have received citations. In this capacity, I collaborate with experienced justice professionals to either prosecute or defend the defendants. The cases are heard and decided by a panel of jurors and presided over by official Municipal Court Judges.During the proceedings, juvenile defendants typically enter a plea of guilty or no contest and voluntarily opt to have their cases heard in The MCD's Teen Court. As a teen juror, I play a crucial role in carefully considering the evidence and arguments presented and ultimately determining the appropriate sentences for the defendants.Being a part of The MCD's Teen Court provides valuable insight into the legal process and helps young professionals, like myself, understand the importance of accountability and fair judgment within our community.
