I also got the opportunity to grow as a teacher as I would train all new hires in the printing department. I grew a great respect for the manufacturing industry and its workers.   I initially joined Burger Boat Company as an Employment Specialist and was quickly promoted to EHSS Manager. As the EHSS Manager, I drove positive safety culture change for an organization that had been in business for over 135 years working in a high risk industry. Our operations were simultaneously regulated by General Industry (1910), Maritime (1915), and Construction (1926) Standards. •Decreased OSHA total recordable incident rate from 37.2% to 6.2% while increasing total headcount by over 240 employees.•Reduced insurance Experience Modification Rate (EMR) from 0.93 to 0.83.•Governed all OSHA/EPA/DNR compliance and oversaw all training and security related activities.   When I joined Broadwind Energy (Tower Tech Systems at the time), I was the first full-time safety professional in the company's history. While building the organization's safety programs, I drove continuous improvement initiatives to change the overall safety culture of the organization.
