    • Uniting Church in Australia - Synod of Western Australia

      Jul 2014 - Dec 2015

I worked for the Social Justice Unit for 18 months after being originally employed for only a 3 month contract. I started my role by helping compile an online newsletter, researching articles and working within guidelines for creating a well balanced weekly program sent out to all those interested in social justice. I then progressed to communication with social justice groups & collating resources, which then developed into working on the social justice unit website, social media pages, creating digital content for use at programs and events. I supported the creation, development and running of several state, city & church events working to promote hospitality and community both within the church and within the state. I was later responsible for creating digital media for Social media use and keeping digital records for the social justice unit. I also acted as secretary for a few interfaith and collaborative community organisations on behalf of the Social Justice Unit. I was employed to work at the National Triennial conference of the Uniting Church alongside the national organisers, learning to use special technology and systems specifically created for use on overhead screens at the conference, making me one of two people who knew how to quickly and effectively update and edit slides, motions and agendas. Jul 2022 - now

Maintaining excellent cleanliness and organisational skills whilst recording and maintaining archaeological recording systems at all levels from drawings, planning, GPS usage, filling out registers and context sheets etc in both paper and digital forms, record checking & machine watching. Working well under pressure and regularly using communication skills to work individually, as well as part of a diverse team. Most recently working alongside developers of APEX for those on a range of projects (primarily infrastructure), as well as acting as the ‘IT trouble-shooter' for staff on-site. Used basic ArcGIS to assist in-field completion of archives. Participated in the excavation of a range of sites in both urban to rural landscapes, in a range of periods in various sites across England with differing archiving needs. Recent sites include infrastructure and construction industry projects. Working per the requirements of MOLA Health and Safety Policy. Show less Working with the Archives Manager of MOLA. Learning even more skills in archive creation, checking, preservation, and storage of archaeological archives, I have been working on the archives collections of a range of sites from around the UK making sure that all the artefacts, documentation and data are all collated correctly, amending errors as they come to light, and packaging artefacts, documentations and data as required by the county and national museums and archives. I even got to prepare a complete archive ready for deposition! I have thoroughly enjoyed solving some of the inevitable human error puzzles that have come out of the archives as they arrive from both archaeological fieldwork and post-excavation processing teams. The role has allowed development through experience, particularly in fine detail working, data entry, handling a diverse range of amazing artefacts, independent working, teamwork, working to deadlines, and prioritisation of tasks. The advantages include learning on the job, practical skills in archiving, learning more about my industry and all facets of the role of an archaeologist. I am really enjoying the experience.
