      Consultant

Acted as professional liaison between surveyors, consultants and app developers to construct a targeted user friendly mobile interface for the NFL Play 60 campaign. This role required extensive collaboration between a team of national representatives to create informative wide-reaching mobile design surveys in order to better understand target demographic needs. We developed and implemented incentive programs to encourage target demographics to actively participate in mobile design surveys and findings dictated the final design of the applications user interface. An extension of the Adaptive Design Greater Philadelphia Project, I taught OT 5123 which included a 3-month interdisciplinary collaboration between the schools of Occupational Therapy, Architecture and Contemporary Art to provide custom adaptions and equipment for students at HMS School for Children with Cerebral Palsy. In the year prior to being hired as an adjunct professor for the course, I helped design and coordinate the interdisciplinary and inter-organizational partnerships that made adding adaptive design to the existing curriculum possible. The course has resulted in the production of over 50 adaptations for students at the HMS School for Children with Cerebral Palsy. Show less Awarded a grant from the Christopher and Dana Reeves foundation to fund the Adaptive Design Greater Philadelphia Project and set out to provide at least 80 children (birth-6, with paralysis causing conditions) customized adaptations that promote early childhood development and overall inclusion. In 2 years, with an overwhelming amount of support from my 13 community partners, we built adaptive design into 6 separate university and high school curriculums, provided adaptive design training to over 150 individuals and produced over 100 adaptations for local children with paralysis causing conditions. The project received a great deal of recognition in its first year and was featured on WHYY, NPR, CBS3 and 6ABC. As momentum picked up, I led a 6-month effort to roll ADGP into its own non-profit with the hope of integrating parametric design software in order to streamline production. Show less Coordinated, planned, and implemented a bi-annual intensive summer education program for adults who use high-tech communication devices (Augmentative Communication and Empowerment Supports – ACES). In this role, I recruited and secured funding for ACES participants (young adult AAC users) through private entities, state waivers and participant school districts. Additionally, I hired and evaluated program speakers and volunteers.*For a better idea of what the ACES program was all about, please view the ACES website at http://disabilities.temple.edu/programs/aac/acesPennsylvania's Initiative on Assistive Technology (PIAT)Educated community members (including persons with disabilities, family members, professionals) about assistive technology and AAC via trainings, presentations, device demonstrations of available technologies, and responses to requests for information and assistance through Pennsylvania’s Initiative on Assistive Technology (PIAT) Show less
