      Product management is a hard role to define. At different companies the responsibilities span from engineering to marketing to logistics specialties. When people have a hard time grasping the idea, I tell them it's like being a mini-CEO. At ASPE I work with every person in the company throughout a course or project's life cycle. Two constant goals of mine are growth and profitability, whether from an efficiency improvement or new product standpoint.• Work with subject matter experts to develop and update courses• Write, edit and present web seminars, blog posts, white papers, course materials and other collateral• Increase profitability of existing curricula of training programs • Develop and cultivate new ideas based on industry trends, customer feedback and professional experience• Combine business and technical savvy to create a big-picture vision for multiple product lines• Innovate solutions in order to meet company goals, budgets and revenue• Constantly adjust to an event-based industry; thinking on your feet is an understatement• Communicate with all areas of the company: marketing, operations, sales, customer service, accounting, etc. – leadership without authority is no small feat • Define product development, deployment, deliverability, strategy and retirement and consistently manage courses throughout entire life cycle; create a go-to-market plan working with all departments to execute• Work closely with marketing team to establish positioning and implement strategies that contribute to product success; includes data analysis, digital marketing strategy, collateral design and more• Recruit and manage team of more than 30 contracted instructors • Conduct sales training sessions about courses to align the sales mindset to the benefits of training for their customers• Analyze, recruit and nurture partner relationships for product lines• Regularly meet with management team to discuss general company programs, vision and outstanding issues Show less As a marketing manager at ASPE, I was responsible for all operations concerning our direct mail program as well as several other aspects of business for all six training divisions including web seminars, lead generation programs, sponsorships and more. This included more than three million mailed pieces annually, two to three web seminars every week, and one of the most responsive lead generation promotions ASPE has ever had. Specific duties included:• Managed brochure, catalog and mail delivery process and budget while coordinating between product managers, operations, customer service, instructors, graphic artists, list vendors, printers and mail houses• Developed tailored marketing plans using database segmentation in order to reach our target consumer audience• Wrote and edited copy for brochures, catalogs, website, blog and other custom marketing pieces• Scheduled, developed and presented web seminars• Forecasted weekly USPS postage budget• Negotiated contracts with multiple vendors, reviewed work and approved invoicing• Regularly reported progress to director of marketing and president of company• Established new marketing initiatives to increase leads and sales including sponsorship opportunities, class raffles, nationwide contests and involvement with professional organizations• Tracked registrations using keycode management, analysis and response rate reporting • Reviewed campaigns using compiled data from CRM and Google Analytics• Managed in-house database and suppression list• Performed list swaps with partner companies• Implemented and maintained the schedule, pricing and descriptions for all courses• Supervised and trained two marketing specialists and three interns Show less
