  Medical Billing Specialist

  As a Medical Billing Specialist for a DME provider, I worked in the medical program Brightree to facilitate in updating patients' accounts and collecting payments (i.e., EFTs, Checks, Credit Cards) from insurance companies and regularly send electronic and paper claims using the CMS 1500 Form. I was also responsible for running weekly Accounts Receivable reports, primarily for Medicare but additionally for Medicare Replacement, Private Insurance companies, and Medicaid. Along with AR reports, within Excel, Pivot Tables were crucial in identifying important and specific information on a weekly basis.Since I was mostly responsible for Medicare claims, I frequently submitted claims appeals with a high success rate. This coincides with my responsibility auditing medical documentation for Medicare compliance. Due to my attention to detail, we were able to successfully win appeals.Another part of my job responsibility was obtaining eligibility and benefits for patients.
