      Plant Electrical Fitter - Maintenance Department

      I completed my apprenticeship at the Mater Misericordiae Hospital. During my apprenticeship, I was a member of a large maintenance team working with various trades consisting of Electricians, Plumbers, Fitters, Carpenters, Handymen and Engineers. I have strong knowledge in the repair, maintenance and fault finding on heavy plant equipment including emergency diesel generators, large air conditioning systems, gas boiler houses and commercial switchboard enclosures. I was also responsible for maintaining fire systems and emergency lighting along with installing light and power systems in commercial areas. After the completion of my apprenticeship I became a qualified Electrical Fitter with an Electrical Contractors License / Supervisor’s Certificate.Key Responsibilities & Achievements:· Maintaining fire systems and emergency lighting.· Installing light and power systems in commercial areas.· Operating, testing, and maintaining emergency diesel generators.· Perform routine and unplanned maintenance, minimising breakdown time and ensuring reliability of plant and equipment.· Fault-find, identify and resolve issues with plant and equipment.· Maintaining and installing commercial hospital equipment.       Electrical Fitter - Service Manager

      As the Electrical Service Manager I was responsible for the efficient and safe operations of the service department. This position required a large amount of organisational skills and had a greater emphasis on customer service. My responsibilities included the prioritising of routine maintenance, on site break downs, workshop repairs, manufacturer warranty claims, ordering of parts and the completion of all paperwork and records. I also regularly called on our major clients to maintain a good customer rapport. It was my responsibility to provide all technical support in assisting the sales team with demonstrations of new machinery and after sales service by training client’s staff in the correct operating procedures of such machinery. I have also successfully trained and mentored apprentices as well as supervising tradespersons and non-tradespersons.       I accepted a position at Mount Thorley Warkworth open cut coal mine operating Komatsu 830E AC Haul Trucks. Although this role is down an entirely different career path to my qualifications and what I have undertaken in previous roles, I believe it has provided me with the opportunity to display my versatility while also gaining valuable mining experience in a large production environment where strict WH&S policies and procedures must be adhered to.Key Responsibilities & Achievements:• Conducted daily pre-trip inspections with appropriate documentation in adherence with company policies and logging and reporting any defects.• Inspect and monitor tyres, lights, brake systems and fire suppression systems.• Safely operate Komatsu 830E Haul Trucks in a heavy industry production mining environment.• Inspect to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.• Maintain all fuel, engine oil, hydraulic oil, and coolant levels.• Required to work a 4-panel rotating roster including days, nights, weekends and 12½ hour shifts.• 2-way Radio communication.• Liaise with Dispatch and supervision• Complete JSA & Take 5 •.
