      Shift Manager

Having started employment as a Crew member I was quickly promoted into management as recognition of my work ethic and ability. The primary responsibility of this role was to effectively manage a team of between 4-35 members, balancing everything from sales, health & safety, working time directives, equipment maintenance, training and customer service. Another vital role that I undertook was that of completing the team roster, which at its high point numbered a total of 96 individual staff members. This became increasingly challenging with the advent of 24 hour opening, but through careful planning and a thorough knowledge of the Working-Time Directives I was able to plan shift patterns that enabled the continued effective operation of the store. A further responsibility of mine was that of completing regular health & safety audits and risk assessments.Key achievements:Taking on all the above responsibilities whilst also studying for a Bachelors Degree at university.Being nominated for and winning the Franchisee Employee of the Year award in May 2008 (out of a potential pool of nearly 1000 individuals).Being the youngest Shift Manager in the company at the time. • Santander Bank, N.A.

      May 2011 - Aug 2012
      Personal Banking Advisor

Key to this role was the understanding of financial products and the regulations surrounding the sale of them. This customer focussed, highly regulated role involved offering services including bank accounts, personal loans, savings products, as well as property insurance. In order to be successful in this role it was critical to build up ones own customer base and to offer a personal, bespoke service according to client needs. I was particularly adept at this and built up a sizeable portfolio of customers who would specifically ask for my services at the branch.I quickly became a valued member of the team and would often be entrusted with conducting team briefings and participating in business critical meetings and daily sales conference calls.Key achievement: Being within the UK top 5 and regional number 1 seller during the launch of the 123 account range. • Warwickshire County Council

      Aug 2012 - Apr 2013
      Clerical Assistant

The key to success with this role was excellent communication and administrative skills. The primary day-to-day tasks included updating and maintaining two databases that monitored eligibility to free school meals and subsidized school transport. I would get in contact with those whose circumstances showed a change in eligibility and request further information if necessary. Using common sense I would at times override the systems decision if I deemed continued eligibility was present. Another key responsibility was processing applications for free meals and school transport whilst ensuring our partner education establishments were made aware of any changes to their eligibility lists. This role required high levels of organization and the ability to use common sense to override system decisions. During busy periods it was a real challenge to manage the workload but through effective planning and good working relationships with partner schools and other departments I was able to help provide a seamless service.Key achievements:I quickly noted that the system of updating schools of changes to their eligibility lists via fax was slow and outdated. I formulated a system whereby encrypted emails would be sent direct to school administrators whenever a change was noted on their lists. A once weekly task which required half a day stood at a fax machine was replaced by a streamlined system that updated our partner institutions on a real-time basis. This ensured that our small two-person team was able to focus on providing a faster and more efficient service. Show less

The ability to liaise with multiple organisations that often had conflicting needs and to propose a compromise that pleased each party was a vital skill that I developed in this role.Key achievements:Maintaining a delivery fulfilment rate of 100%Becoming the department expert on the movement of goods by sea. Airport Controller

Responsible for the effective management of the Cosmos Holidays/Monarch Airline airport team, ensuring key customer service drivers were met at all times. Success was achieved through the forming of strong working relationships with external airport colleagues and the implementation of a rigorous training and development plan for individual team members. One of the key responsibilities was to ensure the correct level of staffing was maintained on shift and that the team was fully trained and aware of their duties. Furthermore, staff welfare was one of my key priorities and this was an especially important aspect due to the nature of work overseas and people being away from their families. This was a demanding role and represented a key position within the resort management team. Palma Airport was a vital airport for the company with multiple flights per day. Key achievements: Devising a training plan and tracking system that was subsequently rolled out to other areas and resorts within the company.Appearing in a company web advertisement. Show less
