  I joined a family run business at age 19 and over the past 16 years my role has progressed into General Manager and Deputy to the Business Owner. Spanning all departments and teams, the nature of a family run business has required a personally invested, varied role, with the main objective of operational performance and key responsibilities include:• Direct line management of team of 38 employees across various departments; 20 warehouse operatives and fork lift truck drivers, office staff and 18 HGV Drivers. • Warehouse management; responsible for entire warehouse activity of 2 busy warehouses• Traffic; vehicle route planning for 15 vehicles within the fleet and managing 18 HGV Drivers• Goods in and out (500+ pallets per day); making sure all orders are processed, checked and dispatched on time and in full• Stock control of 7,000 pallets via WMS System• Responsible for loading process to reduce damages and missing stock / pallets• Implemented new warehouse processes for better pick efficiency• Responsible for staff rotas across 2 shift patterns, absence and annual leave management and ensuring ample cover • HR – responsible for all recruitment (advertising, interviewing and hiring), induction, ongoing training and associated HR functions including grievance and dismissal policy and process• Health & Safety; responsible for all site health & safety compliance including all manner of risk assessments• Invoicing; weekly and monthly invoicing to all customers, maximising profitability and cash flow• Managing and negotiating contracts for operations equipment including forklift trucks, pallet wrap machines, LLOP’s• Load planning – arranging overseas deliveries to various UK destinations.
