Bringing a confident and authoritative presence throughout the committee procedure and ensure the group understands the rules of (our constitution) and that we all abide by those rules. With compliance a key issue in all groups, providing guidance and direction to the various members and ensuring the important area's of concern are identified and resolved. Leading the discussions at committee meetings and bringing together the various comments from their initial varying points of view and ensuring a sensible conclusion. The committee then moves together to ensure the decision making progresses is concluded in the best interests of the group. The Mountbatten Players committee is the business side of the group, and its objectives, action plans and the many other ongoing topics encountered are discussed and reviewed at a monthly meeting. We also have an annual general meeting at which the Chairman presides. Most importantly as the Chairman it is essential to be providing financial, legal and general oversight. This becomes the key function in the run up to a major production facilitating, ensuring and engaging in the groups continuing success. Additionally, I have actively encouraged networking both within the group and externally with others, acting as the community liaison. Other duties include attending the quarterly meeting at The Point users forum, arranging civic visits to our performances, organising fund raising events and ongoing liaison with Countess Mountbatten Hospice (from which our group derives it name). All of these are tasks and events undertaken during my tenancy. The role was both demanding and varied, something I was very honoured to have been chosen to undertake. Show less
