      With a grant from Carnegie Mellon's Undergraduate Research Office, I studied the structural interactions of proteins optineurin (OPTN) and measles virus nucleocapsid protein (MVNP) in the lab of Dr. Deborah Galson. The goal of my research was to detect which sites on the protein were necessary for binding so the effects of the protein pair in patients diagnosed with Paget's Disease of Bone could be mitigated as a treatment option.

      On a gap year between undergraduate and graduate school, I traveled to Vail, CO to live and work for seven months as a chairlift operator. It was my responsibility to inspect and operate heavy machinery to a high standard for 11 hours a day and 4 days a week. I was also expected to communicate efficiently with the maintenance team and other mountain operations personnel, including Vail Ski Patrol, to facilitate a smooth and safe ski season for resort guests. I spent the rest of my time skiing on Vail mountain and other Colorado ski resorts. At the end of the winter season, I received an evaluation that exceeded the expectations of my supervisors.       The Leadership Acceleration Program Internship is a competitive early career opportunity for standout students looking to get experience working in a variety of fields within Highmark Health. During my 12-week summer internship, I worked at the intersection of Highmark's insurance group and Allegheny Health Network (AHN). I isolated, analyzed, and proposed strategic plans for approaching key insurance clients with new and unique healthcare solutions to drive business growth for AHN. I leveraged my skills in data analytics and software to build tools and drive innovation within my team. My efforts identified a total 8,000 patients residing in Western PA that represented a $6.4M opportunity for AHN. Additionally, I presented a thorough recommendation for how to stand-up a network-wide executive shadowing program involving 150 hospital leaders across 14 network hospitals to C-Suite decision makers.       At Orlando City SC, I built automated game analysis tools in R for the club's analytics department. My project focus was on the movement of a team's back line over the course of a game and in response to different situations. I leveraged tracking data to analyze shape consistency as a proxy for center back communication quality, transition speed after a give away, and to compare defensive shape at scale for the club. My work aided game preparation and post-game self-study.
