The camp promoted youth engagement to reduce risk factors that contribute to criminal activity during Atlanta Public Schools Spring Break. Funding was secured through a mobilization of resources from city government, local businesses, civic associations, churches, schools, and non-profits organizations. For eight years, over 30 police officers engaged over 300 youths in positive social recreation activities.• Negotiated 5 contracts with vendors to include stipends to employ youth aged 14 above as a part of the Weed & Seed job training program.• Tailored fiscal accountability trainings to subgrantees to establish internal controls that will assist in achieving grant goals while safeguarding funds. The quarterly trainings which produced improved accounting procedures and the capability to effectively prepare reports that trace funds to a level of expenditures adequate to ensure funds are spent properly by 62%.
