  This role includes acting as a primary technical point of contact, specifically where appointed as the designated project engineer (DPE), closely working with internal/external programme & portfolio management, PMOs, commercial, finance and other stakeholders such as network operations & maintenance. I undertake detailed engineering & risk assurance activities relating to each project involving technically managing sub-contractors and line managing professional engineers. I use my academic expertise, knowledge and experience of Railway Signalling principles, Network Rail company standards and signalling technology to review and implement suppliers’ proposals and designs for rail projects. This is to assure Network Rail that the suppliers are delivering new systems in a safe and efficient manner whilst delivering against the client’s requirements. This covers functional requirements as well requirements intended to ensure RAMS (reliability, availability, maintainability and safety) of the system throughout its lifecycle. I technically manage and employ interdisciplinary and trans disciplinary approaches in order to integrate the required people and processes to deliver all engineering for these projects.
