  I was a part of the running, organisation and development of a project called Mindful Classics funded by the Education Incubator at the University of Exeter. This project sought to help Classics students blend mindfulness with ancient philosophy to reduce academic stress and build resilience. We looked at texts like Marcus Aurelius’ Meditations and see how his teachings can be translated into modern day practice. My role was to help organise events and advertise them via social media. We collaborate with other departments of the university and in 2022, published a paper on our findings hoping to change how Classics is taught, integrating a more mindful and contemplative approach to academia. This was a fascinating opportunity and extremely rewarding to have been a force or change in education, especially during uncertain times where young people’s mental health are vulnerable to collapse.
