  I was fortunate to work alongside a renowned Solicitor Advocate, Henry Oghoetuoma, and the talented team in the Crime and Extradition department. During my internship from September to October 2022, I was able to gain a comprehensive understanding of the legal sector through a combination of hands-on experience and observation. One of the highlights of my internship was researching and analyzing a diverse range of legal materials, including statutes, articles, case law, and case summaries. This allowed me to deepen my knowledge of the subject matter and understand the complex legal concepts that the team dealt with on a daily basis. Additionally, I had the opportunity to review sensitive cases that the team had worked on, which provided me with a deeper understanding of the legal landscape and the challenges faced by lawyers in this field. In addition to my research and analysis, I was also able to observe client meetings and see first-hand how the team applied the relevant laws to individual cases. This was an invaluable experience that gave me a greater appreciation for the work that lawyers do and the impact that they have on the lives of their clients. Overall, my internship at Taylor Rose MW was an unforgettable experience that allowed me to gain insight into the legal sector and develop my skills as a legal professional. I am grateful for the opportunity to work with such a skilled and dedicated team of lawyers, and I believe that the knowledge and experience I gained will serve me well in my future career.   At every step of this immersive Vacation Scheme, I felt inspired by the knowledge and passion of the professionals at Field Seymour Parkes. This experience has deepened my understanding of law and reinforced my enthusiasm for this dynamic profession!Wills, Trusts & Estates:- Launched into my week at FSP with Dean Bickford and Lottie Rees, who warmly welcomed all of us. Their vibrant energy was infectious and set the tone for the entire week.- They created a compelling narrative around the importance of wills, bringing the subject to life in ways I'd never considered before.- Participated in a hands-on Will Meeting Activity. The real-life scenarios and role-play enriched my understanding, and the feedback was invaluable!Business Services Team:- Got a comprehensive look into commercial litigation and employment law. They ensured our sessions were not just theoretical but included hands-on case studies and real-world examples.- Fired away questions at the Q&A, with Ian Machray and the rest of the BST team encouraging us to dig deeper into the world of law.Commercial Property:- Grappled with commercial property law; Their interactive exercises allowed me to understand the nuances of the field better.- Enjoyed an intriguing session about marketing and social media's role in law, sparking a fresh perspective on the profession's evolving nature.Corporate:- Had an enlightening day with the corporate team, they expertly navigated us through complex topics such as corporate entities, directors' duties, and insolvency.- Participated in a thrilling negotiation scenario that gave me a realistic taste of the high-stakes world of corporate law.General Law Introduction:- Bethan Thomas's passion for family law was contagious and offered a whole new view of this specialised field.- A golden opportunity to meet the managing partner, Jeremy Parkes. I got my hands dirty with real-world tasks and was thrilled to have numerous meaningful interactions with the team.- Had an enlightening conversation with the wonderful Minaz, who generously shared her invaluable experiences and insights. - Lunch with the trainees was a breath of fresh air, providing both camaraderie and insider insights.Family Law:- Had fascinating discussions with Michelle on a plethora of family law topics. - I was over the moon to get stuck into a case study with the helpful Dan.- Thanks to Lindsay, I got the chance to complete a prenuptial form and tackle an interesting research task.Understanding Steele Raymond's Support Functions:- Attended enlightening talks and Yvette enlightened me on the complex nature IT truly has and the bigger role it plays in the firm. Linda, from Accounts, took the time to provide an intriguing glimpse into the role's complexities.- I ventured into Dispute Resolution with Bella, who guided me through tasks that tested my understanding of service charges, N1 forms, LBA, and the nuances of drafting letters to mortgage companies.Private Client Teams:- Spent a day with the delightful Cari, who coached me through an array of tasks including drafting a will, conducting share valuations, an estate search and a research note.- Cari showed me just how meticulous one must be in this field, underscoring the importance of exceptional organisation skills and persistence.Property Litigation:- Ended the week on a high note, working on tasks such as drafting a letter of advice and and emails. Here's a glimpse of my time at Scott Bailey....Monday: Conveyancing insightsThe week started in conveyancing, where I delved into the specifics of leases, licenses, and the critical aspects of case management, including the complexities of subletting.Tuesday: Litigation Spent the day with Azmi Quraishe, head of litigation, where the focus was on crafting precise settlement offers. The team's camaraderie was evident, as sharing chocolates became a small but significant ritual to lower stress levels and foster team spirit.Wednesday: Conveyancing and client engagementReturned to conveyancing with a side of marketing strategy over lunch, learning the importance of client relationships in the legal landscape.Thursday: Private client department With Richard Wadsworth, I explored the intricacies of will creation, system management, and addressed the sensitive issues surrounding mental capacity with the seriousness and respect they command.Friday: A day in family lawA session with Sarah Unsworth in family law provided insight into mediation, divorce proceedings, and domicile issues, all critical components of this specialised field.In just a week, I've observed the dedication required to excel in law and the diverse expertise at Scott Bailey.
