  My long-term and fruitful collaboration with Seven continued into a third role after my decision to immigrate to the United Kingdom and become a Higher Education student at the mature age of 27 years old, since education and learning never grow old. I continued to work with Seven as a remote, part-time website content manager inserting information on the website and managing structure and visuals of website articles. I was in constant collaboration with Seven's long-term associate, the journalist, film critic and author Mr. Theodoros Yahoustidis uploading his articles on the web on the column of New Movies of the Week. My tasks included:▪ Liaising with Mr. Yahoustidis once a week to obtain the new written articles. ▪ Uploading new written materials on the website of the Seven company as soon as possible every Thursday, because the information had to be published while still fresh. ▪ Managing structure and visuals of aforementioned articles on the website. ▪ Monitoring and adjusting as needed the appearances of the articles on the web, finalising entries. ▪ Repeat every Thursday.▪ Occasionally, I would contribute my own film reviews for the website content on a voluntary basis. Highlights: ▪ a familiar and easy role for me, keeping me in touch with my national and professional roots during the first years of my immigration journey and sustaining me financially during my student years, in combination with a lot of waitressing!Business/sector:Website content managing, film criticism. Show less This was my second role in the company Seven Video Net. I was given a promotion and transferred from Delphon to the Head Offices of the Company to work alongside Mr. Thodoris Petiropoulos in the Stores Network Data System and Media Department. Around that time, Seven progressed into film distribution, gaining an international standing and becoming a group of companies. Our department was responsible for 'feeding' multiple IT software programmes with the data needed for all Seven franchised stores to be up to date and to operate successfully in a networked coordinated way. This task included many databases, traditional stores, robotic self-service stores, website, e-shop, etc. Moreover, our department was the primary responsible party for the monthly publication of the Seven Magazine, focused on Cinema and Gaming (Playstation, XBox). The movies database and cinema articles and reviews on the website were another major task of our Dept, with the website functioning as a form of 'Greek IMDB', as well as an e-shop. My responsibilities included:▪ Data entry in multiple software programmes and databases management.▪ Website content writer and manager.▪ Authorship and translations of multiple texts for print and digital media.▪ Participation in the design of advertising and marketing campaigns.▪ Editor of monthly magazine and coordinator of editorial team.▪ Collaboration with external partners (journalists, filmmakers) for articles or interviews.▪ Desk research on film related topics.Highlights:▪ Wim Wenders, the famous film director, worked with our team for a special issue on his career. ▪ Our magazine was distributed all over Greece for free.▪ Its quality was well beyond a commercial catalogue due to the great devotion of all editors and film-lovers working in it. Show less This was my first role in the company Seven Video Net (later turned into a Group of Companies and renamed Seven Group). Seven was at a huge development trend at the time with franchising shops (Video Clubs) opening up all over Greece and constant customer flows as the commercial and public interest in Home Entertainment in Greece was massive at the time (before internet, downloading, Netflix). The main products were DVD, VHS, Playstation, XBox, mostly renting, also selling. I worked at the Delphon Street Branch, belonging to one of the founding members of the company, a store with years of existence in the sector of Video Clubs and Vinyl Records Retail, predating the Seven Franchise. Delphon had a long-established customer base and was one of the most successful stores of the Seven network. At its peak, Seven Video Net accounted for over 150 stores all over Greece.My responsibilities entailed:▪ Provision of customer services in a busy commercial context.▪ Making recommendations to customers' requests, from a 'good comedy or thriller' to 'movies showcasing Russia in the 19th century'. ▪ Registering new customers, issuing club ids, offering promotion materials, providing introduction tours in store. ▪ Precision archiving/cataloguing of products (DVD, Games) on shelves and in databases. ▪ Cashier duties, reports of daily turnover.▪ Team managing during my shift and keyholder. ▪ Technical support for broken products after training.Highlights: ▪ this was my first long-term job and proper introduction to the world of work.   I was recommended for this research internship opportunity by one of my University Professors, Dr. Mark Shephard, went through a formal interview and was offered the position. This was one of the best collaborating experiences I have ever had. I worked with Dr. Lisa Curtice and Ms Chloe Trew on the project 'Same as You?' for the Scottish Government and had my first research-related paid job opportunity landed! What a blessing! I still remember the 'Thank You' little party Chloe threw me on my final day!In terms of specific tasks, I completed the following:▪ Data analysis (qualitative)▪ Writing up of results and reports on different topicsProject: ‘Same As You?’ 10 year policy evaluation by the SCLD reporting to the Scottish GovernmentHighlights during my time in SCLD:▪ I completed the analysis and report write up for 3 different topics (Social discrimination and bullying against people with learning disabilities; romantic relationships of people with learning disabilities; educational experiences of people with learning disabilities). ▪ I was offered additional work with the SCLD than the one initially agreed, since there were work needs and my supervisors were happy with my work. ▪ I was one of the two students who completed a paid internship during their Master's degree in my year.   EU and Greek Politics Researcher

  For several years, during the economic turbulence in Greece and in the EU, I investigated through various research methods ranging from secondary analysis of existing statistics to qualitative methods such as interviews, focus groups and ethnographic observation in Athens, the relationship of Greece with the EU. My work primarily focused on national and European identities during the crisis and the effects of economic crises on collective civic identities. My approach drew heavily from the field of social psychology and the approach of Tajfel on social identities. A second stream of my research focused on the analytical critique of Diamandouros's theory of cultural dualism from a social psychological perspective, bringing a fresh look asking new questions by looking at the 'underdog' phenomenon in historical, comparative and sociological context. I attended over 20 conferences during my time at Aston Centre for Europe, representing my work and institution, completed publications in academic journals and engaged thoroughly and consistently with continuous professional development activities to expand my skills.   During my freelance and remote collaboration with Coffey International Development, I participated as an assistant in a policy evaluation project for the European Union's policy campaign against smoking “Ex-smokers are Unstoppable”. Specifically, my role focused on taking care of the part of data collection and analysis taking place in the country of Greece, given my Greek native speaking skills and my professional understanding of research methods and their application in applied research. Consequently, I was responsible for the following tasks:▪ Data collection (online focus groups, telephone interviews).▪ Data analysis (qualitative).▪ Writing up of results in data reports.▪ Communication with research participants over telephone and email. ▪ Translations (English <> Greek).Project: Anti-smoke EU campaign “Ex-smokers are Unstoppable” 2-year policy evaluation reporting for the EU institutions.Highlights of this collaboration:I received very positive feedback from my collaborators in Coffey and had a very good working experience with them. I was even offered other opportunities to work with them over the future on more than one occasions. Unfortunately, due to timing, funding and other commitments (the demands of my PhD), I was not able to re-engage in research activities with this lovely company, active in so many interesting projects all over the world.   In Stimmuli for Social Change I had my first introduction to EU-funded programmes and projects. In this new company, founded by 3 wonderful professional women and kick-started with a HORIZON project on Social Innovation Education, I had the opportunity to learn and exercise the craft of proposal writing for EU Calls and projects. More specifically, I was responsible for the following:▪ Desk research in school education themes, teaching and learning theories for the purpose of designing new projects.▪ Writing up of proposals for EU-funded projects (Erasmus KA2).▪ Assistance as needed to other colleagues writing up proposals.▪ Content writing for projects. ▪ Project management of EU-funded projects (implementation stages).▪ Communication with existing clients and partners, participation in meetings.▪ Administrative and organizational tasks and activities.▪ Appropriate record keeping of digital and hardcopy documents.Highlights of my time in Stimmuli:▪ I wrote 6 proposals for new EU-funded projects in School Education (KA2 Erasmus) and learnt a great deal along the way.▪ Two of them were funded (Plastic Free Heroes; Design Futures). ▪ I assisted in the design and write-up of the ENACTED project, along the chief project manager and colleague, Ioanna Garefi, a project that was also funded. ▪ I actively participated in the Kick-Off Meeting of the REWIP project and coordinated the research tools for the first intellectual output focused on Needs Assessment of vulnerable targets groups (refugees, migrants, asylum seekers), adult trainers, employers. Highlights during my time in OECON:▪ New skill acquisition: I was trained in budgeting EU-funded projects by my colleague Nasia Ioannidou and was able to apply these new skills in my work preparing budgets for new projects. ▪ Had the chance to work on different CALLS, besides Erasmus KA2, which was my thus far experience. ▪ I wrote and submitted a total of 6 proposals and completed 2 reports for a Municipality. ▪ Ambitious new project: I was given the opportunity to research, design, coordinate and organise the proposal and application for a new project in Sustainable Fashion, for the Feb. 2020 KA3 COVES Call. The CALL requirements were very high in terms of quality, precision, expectations by the Commission, partner identification, partnership formation, quantity of permitted budget (up to 4 millions which the project reached). Although the project was not selected for funding, I learnt a great deal by being responsible for its inception and design as the chief project manager.   EU Project Manager - Quality Assurance Duties

  For a brief time, I had the change to collaborate with the EU Funding Department of the AKMI Group of Companies, where my services primarily focused on Quality Assurance and Evaluation for delayed EU-funded projects. During my time there:▪ I completed a 6-month Quality Assurance Report for the project IIoTNET: Industrial Internet of Things VET Network (Erasmus+ KA3: Support for Policy Reform), and drafted and coordinated a second QA report for the Interim stage. ▪ I designed and completed one Evaluation Toolkit for the project DS&AI: Data Science andArtificial Intelligence (Erasmus+ KA2: Capacity Building in Higher Education), facilitating partners to evaluate the project's university events.   My role in GNOSIS included private tutoring for International Baccalaureate (IB) candidates and academic tutoring and mentoring for post-graduate students in Higher Education (HE) in the fields of social sciences and European studies. The GNOSIS school primarily focused on young students (16-18 years old) who studied IB and wished to continue with studies abroad, in English speaking environments. In addition, GNOSIS specialised in coaching and assisting undergraduate and postgraduate students in foreign universities (18-24 years old).
