      Activities and Societies: Men's Rugby, Residence Advisor, Strength and Conditioning Intern for the varsity athletes. The courses I have taken have tailored my knowledge towards a clinical profession in the realm of Health and Exercise Sciences. My program has taught me about several topics relevant to the field including: human anatomy, exercise physiology, pathophysiology, tissue injury and repair, metabolism, nutrition, behaviour modification, exercise prescription, and professional and interpersonal communication.

      Installer

      While working at Jivko Stone and Tile I was tasked with the installation of stone countertops weighing several hundred pounds in a variety of designs. In this role I gained experience in functional lifting and movement of large objects in a practical setting, detailing and finishing of countertop installations as well as how to work in conjunction with the other trades workers at the same job site.

      Fabricator / Inventory Coordinator

      In this role I oversaw the making, quality control, and organization of the company’s inventory of concrete garden ornaments. I was in charge of packaging and delivering shipments of ornaments to several garden centres and nurseries around Vancouver Island. I navigated customer interactions upon deliveries and became experienced driving a flatbed truck.

      In my position I am responsible for creating a positive experience for those living in my community on campus. I relay information given to me by the Residence Life Managers to the 48 students on my floor and host programs or events to build community amongst my residents and others living on campus. I am also in charge of holding students accountable if they break the rules that are outlined in their residence life contract or referring students to campus resources if they approach me with an issue. Three or four times per month I am "On Call" meaning I do rounds within my community at several points throughout my shift to monitor for disturbances and report any maintenance issues. During these "On Call" shifts I am given a company phone with a number that is public to students in my community so they can call me in the event of an emergency. Show less

      In this role I gained 200+ hours of experience directly interacting with and treating clients. I would oversee the completion of clients’ exercise regimes and provided ques/corrections as necessary. I provided treatment through in-clinic modalities such as: shockwave therapy, ultrasound, laser, IFC and TENS under the supervision of a physiotherapist. This position gave me the opportunity to shadow physiotherapists and observe treatment methods over a wide variety of client types.       In this role, my primary responsibility is to advise and fit patients for bracing and orthotic equipment. In addition to this, I also help to manage administrative duties for the clinic including 3rd party billing, appointment booking, store inventory management, community outreach, cast cutting, and any other task the store requires.

All trainers are expected to know members names and care for the facilities as the gym promised members a luxurious fitness experience. As such, trainers are expected to provide detailed instructions of each exercise prior to classes then handle all tear-down and cleaning of the facility to ensure the space is ready for use the next day.
