Pharmacy Manager & Licensee, Certified & Experienced with various Injections, Additional Prescribing Authority. Born & Raised in Edmonton, Alberta. Fully Fluent in English, Ukrainian, & Polish languages. Have hired Pharmacy Assistant staff fluent in Ukrainian & with past experience as Pharmacists in Ukraine. Our specialty is serving the Ukrainian War Refugee community & meeting their special needs and providing some level of continuity of care when they arrive in Canada. As a team, We have developed considerable expertise in matching up medication & treatments that our patients were stabilized on Ukraine that has been disrupted by the brutal, unprovoked, & unnecessary war that started in February 2022 & continues to this day. The services we provide include helping Ukraine War Refugees to navigate the Canadian Health Care system & try to find solutions for them to their often very frustrating issues that arise for them in their newly adopted home in Canada & in Alberta. Among other services we provide, we try to find Health Care Providers for them that are available, can communicate in their languages, and can work within their benefits framework. Where possible, we provide the best possible advice on medication started in Ukraine and Poland and the closest possible alternatives or analogues here in Canada for continuity of care to their health care provider. In some, but not all cases, where another Canadian Health Care Provider is not available in a timely manner, we can provide consultations & prescribe & dispense a limited supply of medication for continuity of care. Last but not least, we provide optimum services in filling, dispensing, & counselling on prescriptions that any Canadians are more than welcome to bring to us. We pride ourselves not only on our language skills but outstanding customer services and always strive to provide optimal pharmaceutical care to all our patients. Show less

Zenon recognized the unique challenges they faced in accessing healthcare and the language barriers that made it difficult for them to navigate their new healthcare system. He adapted aaa homehealth pharmacy’s services to provide medical care & support, significantly impacting the refugee population.aaa pharmacy opened in early 2023 (in the former Edmonton Oilers Office Building) with Zenon’s knowledge of Ukrainian medical terminology & his willingness & determination to help, those refugees had a place to get started. Zenon then completed his APA Prescribing in July 2023, & began prescribing medications, further enhancing his ability to provide timely care & bridge the gap for patients in need of immediate treatment while awaiting physician care. Eventually ex-Pharmacists & ex-Physicians from Ukraine were hired as Pharmacy Assistants & help advise on medications/treatments common in Ukraine to convert to closest alternatives that Zenon was familiar with as a Pharmacist with his experience in Canada. Zenon & his team then networked with other Ukrainian health care professionals together with his own consultations, & when needed, APA prescribing & referrals to other professionals to provide the optimal continuity of care for this vulnerable population traumatized by the war, & weary from immigration.Zenon’s innovative approach to pharmacy has impacted patient outcomes as he addresses the healthcare & social challenges that Ukrainian refugees face. His work exemplifies the spirit of the Award for Innovative Practice, making him a highly deserving recipient of this recognition. Show less

Fluent in both Ukrainian & Polish, & with knowledge of Ukrainian medical terminology, Zenon created an innovative care model that addresses refugees' medical and social needs. He recognized the unique challenges newcomers faced— language & cultural barriers, difficulty accessing healthcare, and arriving in Canada with little preparation or medical supplies. Word of his pharmacy spread quickly, & it soon adapted its focus to serve refugee needs, providing immediate care and referrals to a trusted network of Ukrainian-speaking physicians, dentists, podiatrists, cardiologists, neurologists, nephrologists, psychiatrists, gynaecologists, substance abuse treatment specialists, optometrists, & other healthcare professionals. Beyond clinical service, Zenon transformed his pharmacy into a vital community hub designed specifically for refugees from the ongoing war in Ukraine. Through educational (with a focus on Welcoming to Canada & introduction to life essentials for newcomers) seminars & a child-friendly gathering space, his efforts have alleviated the emotional strain of displacement & provided essential support.Його діяльність принесла відчутну користь українським переселенцям, подарувавши їм не лише доступ до медицини, а й відчуття підтримки, безпеки та надії на нове життя в Канаді.The Professional Achievement Award honours professionals whose work extends beyond their contractual responsibilities to make a substantial, positive impact on Ukrainian community issues. Whether by proactively addressing challenges or reacting to emerging needs, these professionals help raise and support matters of importance to the Ukrainian community — demonstrating that success in the professional sphere can also contribute to our cultural and civic life.
