    • Utah state university

      Jan 2020 - May 2022

      - Completed coursework in Engineering, Computer Science, and Physics- Participated in group assignments and projects- Communicated with students and professors to complete tasks- Completed research projects and lab workThe Applied Physics program at Utah State University requires the completion of an undergraduate research project. Thankfully, this project is completely self driven, in that the student selects their faculty mentor and topic. My chosen topic was inertial navigation, which utilized a custom built Inertial Measurement Unit provided by my mentor. This was made using an Arduino, an SD card reader, and a IMU unit which provided acceleration and angles in both Euler and Quarternion formats. The research project was primarily focused on the analysis of this collected data and calculating position from that data. Preliminary research was completed on inertial navigation methods, integration techniques, and in analysis of the data calculated. The analysis showed, both by mapping the resulted locations compared with the actual path taken, and in performing analysis on the collected data, show that for the intended purpose, calculating exact position, the IMU used is too inaccurate and too noisy to provide enough resolution and accuracy to determine actual position with any reliability. Show less - Assisted in the review of Capstone projects- Acted as the primary CAD designer for several design projects for experimental solar panel arrays- Performed CAD analysis of parts and assemblies in both expected and worst case conditions- Collaborated with project members, students, and professors in brainstorming sessions, design alterations, project requirements, and physical prototyping.- Performed validation and verification steps for physical prototypes against CAD models.- Met with industry professionals on several occasions for design reviews- Met with several student teams to provide custom CAD parts for projects.- Performed material and part selections for several projects to satisfy project requirements based on cost, availability, and part capabilities- Generated part and assembly files based on computer simulations and sketches Show less
