  In this highly competitive programme, I have been able to develop my skillset in numerous ways. In the first few events which took place in Y12, me and my peers were able to attend exclusive lectures at Strand campus for Kings, and discussed a range of different topics from racial profiling to taxes, all of which marked great responses and debates between peers. On another occasion we were able to ask a certified Professor, questions on the LNAT, where he also taught us specific strategies to help ease the process. Show less

  Solicitor Apprenticeship event! Over 40 law firms came to the Queen Elizabeth II Centre in Westminster, where aspiring Solicitor Apprentices such as myself , came to reflect on panels, network with law firms we’re hoping to work for in the future, and meet other like minded students too!

  Hi! I have done a post on this Insight day at Freeths, so if you want to get a more closer look into Freeths as a firm, and a more detailed description of my experience , make sure to check it out! I was able to attend a competitive insight day at Freeths , a firm named by the Legal 500, as expertise reminiscent of a family valued approach; where I was able to network with like minded peers and the amazing lawyers at Freeths. I attentively heard from Solicitor Apprentice Georgina Winson, what a day in her life consists off as an apprentice at Freeths. I found this useful to get a realistic look into the responsibilities she has as an apprentice, as well as understanding what university looks like combined with working, and managing a social life too. It was reassuring to know that whilst it can be difficult at times, it is definitely manageable to maintain both a social life , and working life, though rightfully stressed that when it comes to deadlines , the former would take a backseat once in a while. I was able to ask questions to the lawyers at Freeths, who stated that my questions showed I had a good understanding of Freeth’s values as a firm, and did my research prior , which reflected positively on me as an aspiring Solicitor Apprentice.   Fragomen 2-day Immigration School

  I thoroughly enjoyed the Fragomen Immigration Law School, which strengthen my knowledge on Immigration Law. One of the partners gave us a presentation on the business of Immigration Law. She used a scenario where a family had to move from Country A to Country B , and made us contemplate on some challenges which can occur throughout this process and introduced us to ‘Entry Clearance’. I was taught about the process which Fragomen use when met with an Immigration case. This process is something which deconstructed the process so easily, and allowed me to independently navigate the challenges within the scenario assigned , as well as find a solution with ease and pragmatically . I was also given a slide which had a diagram and flowchart labelled with statistics, with ideas and key ways to develop the marketing and business of a law firm, which will help me to identify which strategies Law Firms are using from those mentioned in the diagram , thus making me a more commercially aware thinker.   I attended a virtual event where members of the Early Careers team , as well as Associates and Apprentices, gave us an insight into Deloitte. Initially we answered several polls , which tested how much general knowledge we knew about the firm , which I found to be really engaging , and made me impressed with the amount I learned from those polls alone! We were then introduced to the assessment processes you undertake as an apprentice at Deloitte which was thorough and informative. I learnt what skills and traits Deloitte are looking for in future applicants, as well as gaining tips from the current Apprentices themselves. Something that stood out to me was an inspiring story from a current Assistant Manager, who went through a gradual journey of getting higher acclaim and roles as she developed as a person and professional with Deloitte and now coaches juniors herself amongst other tasks to maintain the quality and expertise of Deloitte.Overall I found this session really inspiring and useful for gaining more insight about Deloitte and has made me interested in reading up about more of their opportunities for students like myself who are looking to go into an apprenticeship after finishing A-levels. I look forward to interacting with Deloitte at another event sometime soon! Show less
