This means that I am a key member in organising and setting the agenda for the student staff consultative committee over BA Accounting and Management, BSc Accounting, BSc Finance along with my own course BA Accounting and Finance. I also play badminton society at the college level and within the DU training squad.

      During this week long internship, I met many of the professionals who worked at St James's place. I was given insight into their investment management approach and the other elements of their business. This includes their procedures for protecting from financial crime and ensuring cyber security. Going to this event highlighted how interconnected the different elements of a financial firm are. Furthermore, I was impressed by their high ethical standards and their charitable foundation. St James's place sets a good standard for how banks and financial institutions can act ethically. Show less

      During my internship at Smailes Goldie Group, I gained hands-on experience in QuickBooks, bookkeeping, IRIS, bank reconciliation, posting accounts and VAT and other key accounting processes. However, what I found especially exciting was the experience I gained through meeting a client and helping them develop a financial model to calculate IRR on an investment opportunity. I even discussed the level of risk the investment presented with the partner of the office.
