  Event Secretary

  As the Event Secretary of the JCR (student-run committee) in my Hall of Residence, I was responsible of organizing the leisure activities for the 300 students living there. It was very demanding and it required having weekly meetings with the rest of the committee memebers, but it was also very rewarding. My proudest achievement was organizing a formal ball that was attended by 200 students. For this me and my colleagues had to speak with the venue and various external providers, as well as with our Student Union team, as we had to explain the detailed budget to them in order to have access to funds to carry the event.   For some time between 2022 and 2023 I worked part time in this role, that helped me improve my communication skills. It required both explaining difficult concepts to students and also helping them get comfortable in an environment that could sometimes be a bit intimidating at the beginning.

  From the 7th of July to the 10th of July I worked in the BBK Live camping area, in a customer service point. My job consisted in helping the customers with their wristband top-ups and solving some of the IT issues they had with the Cashless payment system. It was a great experience, where I learnt how to deal with complex problems under stressful situations, how to explain complex issues to the customers in a more concise manner, and I improved my communication skills greatly, as I had to assist the customers in three different languages.   Worked doing global sales reports on a D+1 basis from several APAC and EMEA countries for a big pharmaceutical company. Through this work I developed a deep understanding of data tools, the importance of data quality and standardised processes, and the importance of understanding the bigger picture in a collective effort to meet my team's objectives. I was also responsible for the creation and setup of new reports, that involved workingin new platforms from scratch and communicating technical issues and decisions to non-technical stakeholders.
